Went to see Gravity. Loved it! Shame I couldn't see it in IMAX, but ace nonetheless. I still don't think 3D is all that, it makes the screen too dark, but it was impressive.

What wasn't ace was sitting through 35 minutes of adverts before it!

Also the trailer for the new Hobbit film - looked bl00dy awful.

I watched Winter's Bone (2010) yesterday after picking it up in a BluRay bargain bin. I liked it a lot, I give it a 4/5.

If that features Schnorbitz, that's another disgraced kids tv personality.

Stage Fright - From Mr. Hitchcock. It starred Marlene Dietrich, Jane Wyman, Richard Todd, Alistair Sim and Joyce Grenfell(in a cameo). It's okay, not one of his best. Interesting that it is UK set with some British actors. A lot of the time there was not much suspense in the actual story.

Went to see Philomena last night (with the wife!)

Was actually very very good. Coogan is excellent in this film and it does have some laughs in there. We were the youngest couple there though

Today I have been watching Sci-Fi so bad it's actually good. So far...

The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the Eighth Dimension - worth watching just for John Lithgow. I don't think they could make a film like this nowadays.

Starcrash. A cheaply made, hurriedly produced Star Wars wannabe... which despite it's rubbish script, acting, effects and direction entertains all the way through.

Cosmos: War of the Planets. I kid you not, the climax of this film is pressing a 'Big Red Button" (TM, Pat. Pending) to destroy an evil computer. Genius!
Suppose you were an idiot; suppose also that you were an XBox One owner. But I repeat myself.

I thought it was an absolutely brilliant film, the acting was fantastic.

Loved the scene where they are all in the barn waiting for the door to open.

Blood - A British thriller type film based on the old BBC mini series Conviction. Two policemen brothers are forced to investigate a crime that they themselves have committed. It's okay, but the big problem with it is that it does feel very much like a TV movie. It just can't seem to break its roots that much.

Prisoners - very good but a few too many liberties taken with twists that were then just 'left' as blatant plot devices.

Watched Whip It the other day (the Ellen Page film before anyone says anything...)

Quite enjoyed it though could have done with seeing more of the Drew Barrymore character who was funny.
