This episode: Some new micro breweries

Bowmans Swift One 3.8% - Good session pint this. Nothing particularly remarkable, but has a nice smooth taste. Went down very quickly :)

Mash Brewery Gold 4.0% - Weird, weird pint. The first taste was like running my tongue over the strike strip on a box of matches. The nose then developed into "fresh photo-copier" prints. Just weird. A big fat ?/10 - do I like it, not really. I like running my tongue over the strike strip of a box of matches and I like the smell of photocopiers... I don't want that in a beer though.

Mash Brewery Amber 4.3% - Not a big fan of this one either. Tasted of ash.

So I'd like to try some more of Bowman's beers, but Mash Brewery in Winchester not so much.

Hmmm doesn't sound like I'll be hunting these down!

On the bar at the mo I've got Cotswold Lion's 'Shepherds Delight' 3.6% - had this at our last beer festival. Exceptional flavour for a 3.6 ale. Punches above its weight. - Adnams 'Ghost Ship' 4.5% - this isn't up to Adnams usual standards and I usually LOVE Adnams ales :( Low on flavour and not much happening on the nose either. AND finally Worthington White Shield 5.6% :D Yeah yeah yeah, it's Worthington - but hey, don't let that put you off! This is a completely stonking ale - packed to the brim with flavour and smells divine. Brewed by an old woman in Coors micro brewery - one to enjoy and knock you for 6 after a few pints

Now I'm at home... left my White Shield takeaway at the club   So have to settle for an awesome Exmoor Beast 6.6%. Dark. Sexy. Strong Ale. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

On a more beer tasting note, had a bottle of Wooden Hand Brewery 'Black Perl' 4.5%
I love dark ales. This was horrible. :( Not very often I struggle to get through something this dark - but never again. (this is actually the 2nd time I've tried this - but there has been a 2 year gap between each bottle)....

Grrrrrr

Tonight I've got Wooden Hand 'Mutiny' 4.8%

Fingers crossed it is better than the other one!

Actually, poor man is the completely wrong term to use as it is SO overpriced for what it is.

I'd rather go for a proper stout from a cask not a pasteurized keg!

Belhaven Black is a fairly nice bottled Stout

Had a bottle of Meantime Chocolate Porter the other day. Marko, if you liked Old Tom Id recommend this. Whereas Old Tom has a slight chocolate aftertaste, this stuff is very chocolatey. Works very well and I enjoyed it. Dont think i could have too many though, nice as a one off

I love Meantime ales! Never had that one though - where did you find it?

I'm sitting here with a takeaway from work....

Sunny Republic 'Hop Dog' 5.5 - not had this for a while but will be getting it back again! This is one heluva hoppy IPA :D

If you see it in the pub - make sure you try it
