Thought I'd try an Xmas beer from Belgium; and this was my choice:

Stille Nacht 12%

No matter how it was poured, got no head. Tasted flat. But, worse than that, flavour was awful. Hops flavour went almost un-noticed (which is good, for me), but it was flavoured with Sugar Candi. Dreadful. Didn't finish it. And at £4 for a take-out bottle from the pub....

Oh dear! You'd expect something quite special at 12%...

I'm drinking a very large Talisker Skye as I seem to have finished a different bottle last night. Tasty single malt this one - far far superior to the Glen Morey that seems to have evaporated :oops:

Having a whisky session, huh? Nice! 8) A few very worthy drams to check out:

Amrut Fusion [Indian]
Ardbeg Corryvreckan
Kavalan [Taiwan] {standard bottling}
Kirin 50' [Japanese] {No, it's not 50yrs; it's 50 degrees?}
Paul John [Indian]
Super Nikka [Japanese]

I love Japanese whiskey... must have a hunt around for the others. Got an English malt that is exceptional. :D

If you weren't so far away, you could have bobbed round for a dram. :mrgreen: Think I have 10 Japanese on the go at the moment. That English, is it St Georges (which is not fully fledged whisky just yet but, by golly it's brewing up to be something superb)? I want a bottle of Healey's, a Cornish Cyder Farm!

Couple of others I should have mentioned:

Hakushu Single Grain 'Chita' [Japanese]
Hibiki [Japanese]{I have the Harmony bottling}

A well worthwhile purchase for whisky is Jim Murray's Whisky Bible.

If ever you are up in my neck o' t' woods (Yorkshire), Skipton has a brilliant whisky shop - Wright Wine & Whisky - over 1,000 different bottlings from all around the world!

The English Whiskey is from 'The English Whisky Co. It's called Chapter 17 - Limited edition and 56.7%... A rather expensive prezzie from my son for Christmas :D

Would love to get up to Yorkshire - but yeah, it's not exactly 10 mins up the road :lol:

Looks good!

I'm back on the beer - so tonight I have a 2 pint take-out from work. Vibrant Forest - Cambrian Root (Salted Liquorice Stout)

Cambrian Root
Salted Liquorice Stout
ABV 5.1%
This dark beer begins with smooth waves of chocolate and gently roasted coffee beans before a sudden and explosive burst of rich liquorice blasts all over sensation away. This beer is a colossal journey.

Yum :D

Tasted good, too! And so it should for the money - take-out from a pub, £4.80 (and if drunk in the pub, £5.95!)

Asda seem to have more of a selection nowadays. They started getting in more lagers(more Brewdog stuff and also things like Samuel Adams) - they've also got things like Fuller's Wild River.

Anyway, I've got Young's Special London Ale at 6.4% ABV to try.

I've also got Skinner's Hops 'N' Honey(honeyed beer) at 4% ABV.

They're both from Asda. Asda do a 4 for £6 option on selected ales and lagers - so there you go bargain hunters(and not the orange coloured man David Dickinson! :lol: ).

I've become partial to Belhaven Twisted Grapefruit IPA, goes great with curry (most things do though I guess!)
