Has anyone tired Brewdog Brewery's Punk IPA - ABV 5.6%? It's quite nice.

I love all of Brewdog's beers. Used to get them at the club when they did casks - but they went all rebel, ditched casks for 'craft' kegs, pished off CAMRA, opened loads of pubs and made lots of money!
I'm currently trying to source some Brewdog kegs for work though...

Trooper is ok, marketing has been really good and put Robinsons on the map of big breweries. Some say that's good - others now avoid Trooper and go for more obscure stuff from them (like Old Tom!)

A rare Sunday night off for me - so I have a big bottle of Innis & Gunn to enjoy :D

It's Wimborne ale fest next weekend so I'll be there trying as many as I can and then inevitably regretting it the next day

I was at the Ayrshire Beer Festival last weekend - top-class event, so well organised and a brilliant variety for trying. Annoyingly, I don't have my notes to hand and the website doesn't list a lot of beers that were on, but nonetheless here's a list of about 2/3s of what I went for:

Scottish

Alechemy Up and Atom 4.8%
Burnside Wild Rhino 4.5
Cromarty Hit the Lip 3.8
Cromarty Happy Chappy 4.1
Eden Clock Brew 4.3
Eden Shipwreck IPA 6.2
Edinburgh Brew Co. EPA 3.4
Fyne Ales Maverick 4.2
Loch Ness MadNESS 4.0
Stewart Brewing Edinburgh No.3 4.3

English:

Binghams Hot Dog Chilli Stout 5.0
Bowman Swift One 3.8
Great Heck Voodoo Mild 4.3
Hawkshead Windermere Pale 3.5
Long Man American Pale Ale 4.8
Sadler’s Hop Bomb 5.0

~

I moved up to Aberdeen for work a couple of months ago, and find myself very lucky to be located within fifteen minutes walk of four top-class craft beer bars. I was actually at BrewDog's fourth birthday party the other night too - I don't particularly like the inexplicable pretenciousness of the bar staff but a good night was had anyway (although starting with the 7.4% Libertine wasn't too clever an idea...!)

Lucky git! Brewdog bars are excellent and their beers even more so. Some good ales in that list - I've had some on the bar I run (including some of the Scottish ones).

Beer fest in Wimborne was ace. Tried loads of different stouts/dark ales and enjoyed most. Cant remember all of what I had though and lost my program on the way home :(

I do remember having Tring's Death or Glory, Quantock's Quantock Stout and Hop Back Brewery's Entire Stout. Tried a load of ciders too as my brother was on them.

On another note, went in to Asda today to get some beers in their 3 for £5 deal. Noticed all the fancy beers were down to £1.50, even better! So I got some McEwans Champion 7.3% and Brackspear Triple III 6.7%. Old Tom was also £1.50 (Original not the chocolate one) and that's 8.5%! Smaller bottles though.

@MPM - Have you had many of the "Green Hop" ales on at your bar, this year? I got a nice 4 pints takeaway of Old Dairy's Green Hop - the Challenger Hop at 4.2% ABV today. I spoke to a local landlord and he said that this year's selection had been disappointing taste-wise - not acidic enough and to similar to the other ales. He did say however, that he had sold a lot of them.

Not had much options on the green hop beers this year tbh. Summer was all about Ultra hoppy IPA's and now the winter is heading in it's beer coloured beers and dark beers. I've got Waen Breweries Chilli Plum Porter 6.1% on at the mo and it is really bloody good :D The Welsh make good beer. Got Waen and Hopcraft collaboration beer called Brown Beer Society 4.2% and Purple Moose Breweries Snowdonia Ale 3.6% on... 3 Welsh Ales at the same time!!! I'll be counting sheep tonight

Cannot get enough of this McEwans Champion at the moment. Absolute steal at £1.50 a bottle. Asda also have a few at £1 a bottle like Bank's Bitter, Ruddles Best, Marstons EPA. Figure though for an extra 50p this is worth it at 7.3%

Champion! Gaming related pic

Had a fantastic weekend. Friday evening at Poole Beer Festival, Saturday lunchtime at the same place and ummm Saturday night at the same place

Even better is that although I drank lots of ale, I didn't pay a penny for any of it  The fact that I know so many CAMRA people and help them out lots might have had something to do with it.

Some stonking good ale there though - and a good selection of imported bottles. I'm sitting here drinking 'Straffe Henrik Brugs Quadrupel bier. Its black and it's also 11%! Tastes amazing.
