Interesting! May pop over to our local Aldi and see what they have in stock... but usually not very much.

Tonight though - thanks to me ordering 8 cases of 12 Fullers Special beers... I'm drinking a Limited Edition Fullers Imperial Stout 10.7%
And it is a BEAST! Oh my God, it is one of the best beers I've ever had the pleasure of drinking :D

Tonights special beverage is another Fullers beast...

Brewers Reserve No.5 Oak Aged Ale 8.5%.
Matured in fine old whisky casks for 500 days - and when you crack the bottle open, you can smell the whisky :D Some vanilla going on in there too. Very nice indeed.

A recent tipple - La Trappe Quadrupel. Pretty good, all considered.

St. Austell's "Proper Job" at 5.5% ABV. It's an IPA. Has a pretty decent hoppy flavour - and it's probably one of their more distinctive beers. I got from Tesco's.

One a sidenote - I see that Asda are selling Brewdog stuff now. They've got "Punk IPA" in both cans and bottles, as well as "This is Lager" in cans.

St.Austell's Proper Black is better! A really good Black IPA... Tesco to a few Brewdog bottles/cans too. Cheeky buggers have removed the craft beers from the 4 for £6.00 offer though

I'll look out for that one, MPM.

On another sidenote, I noticed Asda did have the Brewdog cans on special offer about two months ago - shame they have gone back up in price, but hey - they're still reasonable. They still do the "4 beers for £5" offer there, that's for the real ale section not the lagers.

Has anyone tried that Guinness Rye Pale Ale? Asda had sold out. What's it like?

Got a good supply of Harvey's Christmas Ale in for the next few days...

A traditional barley wine. The biscuit malt and vinous fruit palate is balanced by a strong hop bitterness. It is warming and reflects the spirit of Christmas. Recipient of Finland’s Olutseura Olviretki award for ‘excellently’ fulfilling “The Christmas Beer Regulation” described in Aleksis Kivi’s novel ‘Seven Brothers’.
Key Info

Allergy Advice: Contains Barley and Oats
ABV: 7.5%
Tasting Note: A Strong Dark Barley Wine. Full of Festive Spirit.

Really been off ale for ages now purely because it gives me bad guts for some reason :( Had some Trooper that had been sitting in the cupboard for ages last night anyway and still felt rough in the morning. Pretty sure cider has the same effect on me too for some reason from what I remember (been a while since I had some).

*sigh*

I've got a few Belgian ales to go through over the Xmas / New Year period - and also a load of very strong ales from around the world.

Tonight I'm enjoying a bottle of Vibrant Forest - Bourbon Oktober 9% Imperial Russian Stout. I must say that it is an exquisite little number and perfect after finishing work at 1am, getting in and peeling the veg...

and relax.
