That Jason Voorhees looks quite nasty in this one.

the horror remake bandwagon roles on....
I actually didn't think the remake of the Hills have eyes was that bad, but most of them I haven't liked.

Doesn't really look like a remake, just another one in the series... I think they call them 'franchise reboots' don't they?
I love most of the old Friday 13th movies so I'll be interested to see this.

Im pretty sure there is a remake of A Nightmare on ELm St due out soon also....without Robert Englund....
I was sceptical about Rob zombies Halloween Remake but that wasnt too bad..Most of the Japanese to american horror films are dire though and shouldnt be messed with.
Although trying not to spoil the twist then why is everyone on that movie forums wondering who is playing Jason when it shouldnt really matter in the first friday 13th ??

It was Part 3 that he got the mask actually, but your point is still valid!Opa-Opa wrote:If this is a remake then it's all wrong...
Jason isn't in the first Friday the 13th film and he never found the hockey mask untill Friday 13th part 4...

It's not a remake, it's a reboot. Basically starting the story again from scratch and doing what they like with it.Opa-Opa wrote:If this is a remake then it's all wrong...

So a remake featuring those things is just a big bag of wrong!!!
I'm also a massive F13th fan, (have all the movies, some memorobilia, etc.) so I'm really interested in this.
It stars Jared Padalecki (Sam from the TV series 'Supernatural') so I'm hoping he gets a tickling from Jason's machete

Sig pic temporarily removed...The Magnificent 7 will ride again

I thought he got it off of Cory feldman in 4 but not seen it for a while..
Is there a DVD boxset with them all in, would love to own that.
As for a "reboot" (stupid term) it just don't make sense.. You can't have the Friday the 13th legend without the tragic story of Jason drowning then his mum going a bit mad and killing everybody... Thats the point surely..?

He got it off the fat, annoying 'horror fan' in Part 3, the awful 3D one...Opa-Opa wrote:Oh I must have my 3's and 4's mixed up...

There is a boxset yes, with the first 8 movies in plus a bonus disk with documentaries etc. It's a nice compact set actually.
Oh and I agree about this reboot nonsense. From the trailers it doesn't look like that anyway, just looks like another chapter in the gory saga!

So there's no Jason goes to hell or X or Freddy vs Jason in the boxset then..?witchfinder wrote:He got it off the fat, annoying 'horror fan' in Part 3, the awful 3D one...Opa-Opa wrote:Oh I must have my 3's and 4's mixed up...

Rubbish... (But I still want it..)
There's no Jason Goes To Hell or Jason X in the box set because it's a Paramount release, and they only did the first 8 films before selling the rights to New Line Cinema.
I agree that the reboot thing is stupid, but most thick American teenagers don't remember or care that Jason wasn't the killer in the first film (the start of Scream makes a reference to that, in fact), the only thing the associate with F13th is a machete wielding killer wearing a hockey mask. So presumably. they're just retelling the story to include him from the start and pander to their target audience. I'll wait until I see it anyway before passing judgement, it's impossible to tell what's been kept in/cut out of the original story just from the trailers so far.

Paramount never actually sold the rights to Friday the 13, the orginal creator managed to keep a clause in the contract stating that he would keep all the rights to the story, bar the name. When he felt that Paramount wasn't selling his product properly he moved to a company he believed would, in this case New Line Cinemas, due to their selling of the Nightmare on Elm Street series. This is why the new movies did not use the Friday the 13 title, they didn't have the rights to that, only the story. Paramount didn't raise to much of a stink because they didn't want to have the problems slasher movies brought with them.
