Hello Koops,

Cheers for those links, ordered my copy of the mag today, can't wait. Am going to join their forumn too, so hope to see you in there. By the the way, meant to mention to everyone, found a few 'Commodore Format' original tapes for the C64 if anyone wants to provide a good home to them, let me know and I'll tell you which ones I've got, it would seem daft to put them on e-bay for a fee.

Had a few days to read and re-read Issue One so here are my thoughts:

News - Quite nice layout and interesting piece on Cubeworld.

History of Sonic - Not too bad but I've read better elsewhere.

Compilation Round-Up - Quite good. Nice to see them all in one place.

Loading - OK but it seemed to be a bit of 'filler' across two pages.

Spectrum 128 - I think the first few paragraphs could have been edited down, to be honest. Also it looks like a bit of a plug for Gamestation really.

Sam Coupe - Excellent. Plenty of info from the horses mouth.

Rob Hubbard - Again this seemed to be a five minute conversation that was padded out.

Horace Goes Skiing - Ok but padded out again.

I Hate You - Interesting opinion piece.

Dizzy - Okay but spoilt by the design (I'll come to this later)

Kixx and Hit Squad - Quite good History

All At Sea - Some of the questions seemed a bit silly and it seemed to be unedited from the original conversation/email so it made the interviewer look a bit stupid.

Sabreman Diaries - Couldn't see the point it it.

Back oF The Arcade - Excellent. Always good to hear about obscure arcade games.

Table Restoration - Very good.

Retro Ball - Not bad.

Devils Of The Deep - Not sure whether this deserved two pages but ok.

A Team - Bit of a predictable choice really.

Retro Advert - Interesting piece

Toys - Never been interested in Star Wars but okay

Stories - Bit much for three pages really.

Overall - Not bad for a first issue but there are a few serious issues need addressing. The design is very inconsistent and doesn't blend from page to page. Certain articles were nicely designed whilst others looked horrible. The better articles seem to be from established writers and I think this needs to be increased. Also certain features seemed to be padded out in order to fill pages up. Obviously RF comes from a fanzine background and I think this still shows in some of the writing and design - Its coming from a different direction to RG so maybe some of these features are intentional?

got it yesterday from gamestation in lancaster , not bad for £3 and took up most of the lunch hour browsing through it , it is fantastic though that all this retrogaming has come back in vogue. Who would have thought 2 or 3 ago that we'd have 2 specialist retro games mags + games (tm) with there retro section as well , were spolit rotten.

Well - RF issue 1 has been out for a while now.

So who purchased a copy of this wonderful mag (the complete version)

It really has been well put together by some great retro lovin guys and is worthy of the tiny 3 quid asking price!

Alongside RG, you will have your Retro fix sorted for the month.

Go buy it now..... you will NOT be dissapointed.
