Gladiators - The TV Show

Post by EvilArmourKing » Wed Mar 19, 2008 5:55 pm

Anyone else miss this show?

I'd certainly prefer it to all this Dancing on Ice bobbins.

Sadly, it can't be bought back due to Political Correctness, as it was deemed to be too "dangerous" after new Health and Safethy guidelines were announced.

Off the top of your head, how many Gladiator names can you remember (without searching!).

I can recall :

Jet - Simply cause she was so HOT
Wolf - As he appeared in an advert for Barbarian if I remember correctly.
Rhino - Man, that guy HAD to have been on steroids!
Lightning - Am just guessing here, but I'm pretty sure there was a contestant (female) with that moniker.

Wow, what a poor memory.

All in all it was the PG eqivalent of The Running Man.

I hope in the future they bring it back and have convicts playing. Throw in some weapons....I'm sure you get the idea

I thought it was coming back on Sky one...? With Ian Wright presenting...?

The only other Gladiators I can remember are Hunter, Scorpio, Shadow and Panther.

It was quite crap as a programme though....
Please Sir I cannot tell a lie......

Yep, it is coming back on Sky with Ian Wright presenting. I always used to watch this on Saturdays when I was younger for some reason (aint got a clue why). Wasn't the greatest show but was much better compared to the crap that is on Saturdays these days.

American Gladiators has recently returned, so as usual we're following behind them.

I'm tempted to grab some of the US shows to see how they compare to ours. I'm not sure it'll hold up so well these days, I suspect it was a show of its era and won't date well.

Political correctness and Health & Safety are two entirely unrelated concepts.

Where did you hear that Health & Safety scuppered a comeback, out of interest?

<puzzled> Is that PC as in Persecution Complex? ;)

My sad claim to fame is a 'enlarged' picture of me with Jet backstage after the filming of an episode of Gladiators. She was pretty good as the Games Mistress too. :D

A mate of mine was Jet's bodyguard when she visited up here for something.
