3 Things wou miss from your youth!

Post by EvilArmourKing » Tue Apr 10, 2007 12:19 am

I spend waaaay too much time thinking about the past - something very unhealthy so I've been told.

Anyway, what three things do you really miss about growing up or your youth years??

Here are my votes :

1. School - Such a cliche, but I really do. You realise later on what else came with school, i.e - security, friendships, school trips, events like sports day - and for some of us....a month of detentions

2. The TV shows - Knight Rider, Street Hawk, The A Team, The Fall Guy, Hunter, The Wonder Years, Midnight Caller - will never forget the day my parents bought me a TV for my bedroom.

3. The inherent cockiness that you think you know everything, and how self aware you think you are about whats going on around you, when in actuality you don't know as much as you would like to believe

So, what is it you really miss?

I'm actually building a time machine at the moment, so once it's complete I intend to offer yearly trips to your past. Tickets cost a respectable £2,495.

Hmm...

1. I miss not having to work for a living :(
2. I miss games that only needed a one-button (or at best, two-button) joystick/mouse.
3. I miss the artificial crap they used to put in food to make it 'nice' (Before they all got banned for health reasons, that is)
WTF!? The 80's are GONE!? And they're never coming BACK!?

I wouldnt say school, yeah its easy now to look back and think how good it was but go back to that time and for me i hated it, boring lessons, crap teachers and a time when i was longing for the days to finish straight away so i could get home. For me its a true case of rose tinted glasses

1) Summer holidays - They seemed to go on forever, weather always seemed good back then (Rose tinted glasses again !)

2) Computers - Before this it was crappy board games, computers were sooo amazing when they came out, whole new world !

3) Times were better back then ! Sound like my dad but back then you didnt hear much of people getting a kicking/get shot every week, didnt hear about immigration constantly, greenhouse effect, with the 'happy' 80's music the world did seem an alright place to a 10-14 year old

Too many things I miss from my youth. I miss playing computer games for the first time. 3 things from my list would be:

1. playing "brand new" 16 bit games.
2. playing football with my friends.
3. the music of the 80s! (nowadays, it doesn't quite have the same feeling to it when you listen to it).

I don't think it's silly to miss your schooldays. I miss mine, especially lower school.

Good shout. Funny in those days we often used a tennis ball, actually helped a lot with ball control etc. The footballs we may have used back then were the 99p jobbies from petrol stations, could turn into Ronaldo with some bendy free kicks with those lightweight ones !

Southsea Pier and Isle Of Wight pier with all those hundreds of classic retro arcade games that used to cost 20p a go.

1. Hearing sample-based music for the first time.
2.Collecting stuff guilt-free...never had anything better to spend it on.
3.Finding porn in hedgerows.

I've always wondered who it was that chucked away carrier bags full of Knave, Fiesta, Mayfair and those little Forum books down the woods in the '70s/'80s

Do they still do that now? I tend not to take the short cut through the school and cut down through the woods to get to the town any more. Hang around down the woods now and I'd probably get arrested.

It's an odd passtime that - buying porn, and then throwing it away in some wooded area. But it must be quite a common hobby, as I've lived up and down the country at various stages of my life and near any wooded area there's always the remnants of some porno mag littering up the place.
