Is it just me or does everybody really miss teletext? Sure you can get a digital version through sky but it is slow and rubbish in comparison.

I used to read the videogame pages on channel 4 text every morning whilst having breakfast, and check it again when I got home from school/work as it used to be updated.

I remember in the late 90s nintendo magazine system when to war with them over apparent 'Biase' against the n64.

Teletext was fab, was still using it until they turned it off for the likes of the sport and quizzes/letters.

I loved Teletext, used to read it while i was eating my toast before work, loved the digitizer and games pages,
The digital text equiv is shyte so slow and no comparison to the original.

When i was younger we used to have the PRESTEL version too,which was pretty cool,.

I used to regularly visit the Mensa page, Bamboozle, Turner the Worm, and yes, I do remember the Knightmare text adventure (that was pretty awesome.)

Otherwise these days I pretty much just use text for Rugby League scores/news, that's about it.

Turner the Worm's weekly adventures was my favourite part of Teletext, easily.

And one time I got an excited phone call from a school friend saying he'd found an invincibility cheat for Comix Zone on Teletext.

A landline telephone, a Mega Drive cheat and Teletext all in one memory, ah bliss etc.

Teletext used to be really informative back in the day, too.

Nah i dont miss it. Loved it in its day but its time had come and gone. What with the internet, being able to browse the web on my phone or check stories on RSS feeds or twitter, i just never used teletext for many years.

In its heyday it was great for football gossip, tv listings, news and other stuff. Frustrating when the numbers seem to come up to your page and then 'somehow' skip past it so you had to wait longer, weird ! Remember back in the late 80's checking it in the morning for american football results. One week they got the score the wrong way round, so i was so happy my team won and then a few days later (when you got the weekly american footy paper) i realised they had messed up ! Gutted.

The digital version on Sky was way too slow so i just stopped using it. Just redundant though because of the net sadly

Way back in the mid-80s I wrote regular articles for BBC 2 CEEFAX in the NEXT computer section. Put together using our BBC Model B and post floppy disks to the editor, before he persuaded me to subscribe to Prestel and Micronet so I could upload my articles using a 1200 Baud modem that came free with the subscription!

Only problem is I have absolutely nothing from those days. Not one article survives. Not one edition of my text adventure helpline pages ADVENTURE SOS... sniff...
