However, I have noted, with dismay, the lack of tramp porn to be found under bushes in public parks. Does no one guiltily dump their well thumbed volumes for the education and titillation of juveniles and vagrants anymore? How are our pre-adolescents to know the joy of an illicit find, therefore prompting a fledgling business opportunity, leasing these "slightly foxed" volumes to eager classmates?
Recycling, and the internet, clearly have their downsides.
Lol your post made me laugh, tramp porn? I always thought it was lorry drivers who threw this stuff out, they've probably all got ipads now

When I first went on the bus with friends the fare was 70/80p in 2005.

Now it's something like £1.60!!!!

Is it me or are Bus fares extortionately expensive?

2005? Wow, you're really throwing down some old-school nostalgia there...
Which reminds me, does Retro Gamer feature the XBox 360 yet?

80p used to get you your monthly computing mag in my day, ya young whipper-snapper.

Maybe when you have to pay £2.20 like I do, they are!

I remember 50p being the max fare on Travel West Midlands buses back in around 2000/2001 - that ticket would let you stay on as long as you wanted. It was already going up through the roof when I stopped using buses years ago though so lord knows how much they charge now...a few quid for the 'privilege' of sharing a bus with chavs, buses that are always late and buses that are nearly always packed? No thanks.
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

Last I used buses was in Gosport from about '95 to '98, until I got a car. I always remember the titchy chav lasses and " 'alf return to the White Hart" - expecting to pay a child fare on their way to the pub.

Anyone else remember when a liter of petrol was less that a quid?

Wasn't that long ago but it feels like it. If we knew how prices were going to go back then I bet more people who have stocked up on petrol.

£1 a litre? I remember the shock of it hitting £2 a gallon.

Yes. When I first started driving (2002) it was about 80pence a litre I think. People went mental when it hit £1. Now it's just accepted that it's £1.40+

Buses - when I used to get the bus to work (2000-ish) it was £1.60 return. Now it's about £4.20. Disgusting, absolutely disgusting.

They really need to improve the services for what they charge, especially those who go to school on them (if you even get pocket money that is).

It's pretty sad really...although the last few times I went onto a bus some random female chav tried to talk to me...only for one of my school friends and a family friend to come on the bus to shut her up. lol

Buses are confusing... I only ever use them if I'm in a new place and don't know how to get somewhere. And even then I'll have to stand at the front of the bus so the driver can tell me when to get off

When I was 12 back in 1990, the bus fare home from school was about 30p on the West Midland buses. To travel the same distance now it's 95p for kids, £1.90 for adults.
