Very good for films, great for games but probably the best decade for music. Comedy was also a beneficiary as the 90s gave us Steve Coogan and Chris Morris. Not so good for football, however, considering Man City spent most of it fighting relegation or being relegated.

Also, MTV played music, as opposed to shows about spoilt pregnant teenagers and tanned Americans with STDs.

Nope, I think the same as well.

1994-'99 were AMAZING times in my life. Probably the best times ever.

I've had some amazing years since (2000-2004, 2009, 2011) but there was just something special about the 90's.

I loved the 70's and early 80's...every cafe had an arcade machine in it...alongside those dirty machines that churned orange and milk around. Star wars was everywhere and the fun we had in the playground gambling 2p a go to see who won on the stock car pocketeer (which I still have) and drinking your cresta with a bag of snaps watching everyone get water from standpipes during the drought...happy sunny days!

Ha ha great post. Yep those pocketeers (specially the stock car one) were great, as was the 'obstacle course' one i remember having.

I'm sure many kids will be loving their childhoods now even in the 00's. I think year by year we sound more and more like our parents as i often go on about 'kids dont realise how lucky they are, lots of pocket money, lots of consoles/games, in my day you had to save up weeks for a £7.95 Speccy game...' etc

Mind you I thought that in 84 when dragons lair appeard in our local arcade...ahh witchcraft I must avert my eyes! Ha ha!

Was quite excited when i found a few 'pocketeers' on the app store, gave me a nice nostalgia buzz.

But those pocketeers were brilliant until home computers arrived, it was like a great basic handheld wasnt it ! Funny looking back at those

I'd say that in terms of non-internet culture, 90's beats 2000's hands down. That includes video games.

In terms of internet, the 90's were pretty much a dot com bubble and animated gifs.

I was born in 1970 so it's the 80's all the way, the films were fantastic, the tv was great as was the music the rise and rise of 8 bit computers, the fantastic Crash and Zzap 64 magazines truly a retro lovers decade. The 90's was also great but not as great as the all conquering 80's, I have so many happy memories of both the 80' and 90's not just in gaming terms however as a gamer to be around then was amazing.

No it's relative. Guys who grew up in the 60s think so and so while those who grew up in the 70s think otherwise. That's my view on things. You must have been a nineties boy to think that (no offence).

It may be relative, but Im fairly confident that the 90s were objectively the best decade in general. Not just a case of 'must have been a 90s boy'

I cant believe people liked the 70's, everything i've seen on that decade looks depressing as hell !

But yeah to be fair the decade you grew up in (and basically when you started getting girlfriends and more) seems to be the best decade!

That's a bit of a nonsense statement to be honest. No doubt many people born in the 1880's thought the 1890's was the best decade ever. It's all subjective with no definitive answer.

Btw the 90's was piffle compared to the 80's

After thinking about it, I think Double Dragon Neon had pretty much everything the 80's was good for. Besides that, I'd have to really think about it.

I guess it's all a matter f perspective. I was only in the 80's for a few months, so that doesn't count, but I can definitely say that I prefer the 90's to the 2000's.

The girls were definately abit wilder in the 80's, and up for more, so I'd agree in that respect, but in all other areas, the 90's drops its pants after a curry on the 80's.
