I saw John Hurt as the Elephant Man when I was a kid, I couldn't sleep for weeks after that, I still can't watch the film today.

Apparently it has only recently been allowed to be reshown after 2 people killed themselves after watching it. Horriffic.

Looking back now its still damn scary, despite the rather hilarious posession of michael parkinson at the end.
I thought it's never been shown again although the BFI released it to the mark the tenth anniversary in 2002.
