Amiga 1200 fans!

Post by paulisthebest3uk » Mon Sep 06, 2010 10:59 am

Hey guys, anyone been messing or upgrading their old Amiga 1200?
I put in an 8megabyte card with 68040 which has made it faster quite a bit, and a 2gig laptop hard drive, so now Workbench 3.1 is installed on the hdd instead of booting from floppy. Great Stuff, was wondering if anyone has been messing about with Amiga Hardware recently :)

I have an A1200 with 32Mb RAM, a 68040 processor, and something like a 3 Gb HD. It's been like that since the 90's.

Recently I converted a PC power supply to run my GVP HD that's attached to my A500. It was good to get that up and running again after being without power for many years. It allowed me to back up the drive, too, which was bothering me.

There are a few of us lurking about. :)

It's well worth a look.

My dad's A1200 is currently sitting in my bedroom. In fact it's right next to where I'm sitting now :D It's all connected up to my 32" LCD HD telly, ready to play.

It's just a bog standard A1200, but it has 4MB fast RAM and a 4GB CF hard drive with lots of WHDload games on it! :D

Same here :) Registered in my name too.

I downloaded the games from WHDownload except for those in which we had the original disks or copies of originals (i.e. non-cracked). In fact, there were only two games in which we had originals for, but had to resort to WHDownload - Alfred Chicken (we have AGA version which isn't supported) and Guardian (We have floppy version, but only CD32 version is supported by the installer). Plus there were some games in which we only have ECS version on disk when there is an AGA version available.

We also have a couple of games that don't have a WHDload installer available, such as X-Treme Racing, Gloom Deluxe and Super Skidmarks. Would love to get the AGA version of Wing Commander to work, but it doesn't :( And yes I've looked at guides on the Internet on how to install it. Seems like I'm doing it right, but it still crashes every time I run it with the patch :(

I've also got Daily Double Horse Racing on there, which was an absolute a**e to install! :x

I'm currently trying to learn AMOS on my A1200 with 030/50mhz/8mb/4GB SD card HD.
Thoughts and prayers.

Bought another 1200 recently. Have installed a 4GB CF card with 2,400 games on it. Then I got an Appollo 1220 Accelerator with 4mb of memory on board.

AMOS arrived in the post a couple of weeks back.

Next purchase is either a Scan Doubler or a compatible Amiga monitor.

Been playing Fire and Ice on my pojector with a Zip Stik joystick - I had forgotten how wonderful this computer was.

I backed up all my Amiga floppy discs on my PC (using the two floppy drives trick) into ADFs. It was great seeing all my old work again.
My ma then binned all the floppy discs because they were stored in the loft. And then my hard drive corrupted. The fact that all my work from 1990 - 1994 is gone forever is a bit hurtful.
