Hammer House of Horror!
That episode with Denholm Elliott as an estate agent, it freaked me out massively as a kid - luckily it's on the recent DVDs!

I was desperately trying to think of the name of this progeamme to put up on here and never found the time to look into it.r0jaws wrote:I always get strange looks whenever I talk about 'The Adventure Game'. I have vivid memories of Uncle shaking his leaves when he was angry, and feeling quite apprehensive about the idea of falling off the struts when taking on the Vortex at the end.
Brilliant stuff (at the time obviously)
I haven't looked at the you tube clips but I seem to remember a very young Jenny Powell, some old guy in robes, the Vortex with the invisible on screen monster and a Maze which you had to navigate via a computer monitor. The maze was essentially one of the first line graphic programme mazes and there were several spin offs from it for the home computer.
Ohhh, happy days (and first crush if Iremember correctly).

Here's a really obscure one.
Who remembers when they used to race F1 cars around the streets of Birmingham?

Re: Retro TV that nobody seems to remember...
For Squigs_ghost I have a few episodes on avi that might jog the memory....
Here's four others for your grey matter:
1. Tele bugs (No really!, ITV early 80's)
2. Devlin (Motorbike guy)
3. Inch High Private Eye
and finally my favourite from the 70's...Marine Boy (The lad himself, he of the hummable theme tune, boomerang throwing and gum chewing persuasion..)
Happy days!

I really liked the Telebugs when I was a kid (I was quite young in the 80's) but it was superb.Jelly Monster wrote:1. Tele bugs (No really!, ITV early 80's)
I don't remember any of the others you mention though

Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

and the magic hands! I loved seeing if it would ever zoom in on the comic panels that you rarely saw.

Re: Retro TV that nobody seems to remember...
A few I've not seen mentioned so far:
Spooks of Bottle Bay - Watching the intro still gives me chills today! Before YouTube, it took me years to convince friends there was a TV show about puppet ghosts who lived in ship in a bottle
Kissyfur - I always remember that being on Saturday mornings, and missing it one time cos I had to go food shopping with my parents. It was the episode with the train crash. I was gutted!
The Amazing Spiderman - Live Action TV Series - Now this one is possibly my favourite TV shows from when I was a kid, but I've NEVER found anyone else who watched it when they were younger. Even my Dad who used to watch it with me denied there was ever a series! Most people don't even know there was a live action Spiderman before the recent movies. Some know of the 1970's movies with the same cast, but not many know about the series.
This was the first time I saw Spiderman, before I saw any comics or cartoons, so my mental image of Spiderman is the one from this TV show. He's still my favourite super hero
I'd be very interested to hear if any of you guys have seen it, and what you thought about it - Trailer
