Top Trumps

These seem to be having a bit of revival as of late - although they can't be as popular as they were back in the day (playgrounds of the 80s).

What was your favourite deck? Marvel Superheros was ace. And then I remember having a 'Horror' deck with Dracula etc.

A very entertaining game!

About a year back i built http://www.yourtrumps.com to teach myself php / flash / web design and at the same time let people play and create trump decks. This deck is one of mine - and a favourite, but not finished :D

I had the Horror set amongst the ususal footie and jetplane sets.

That was great, it had the incredible melting man, dracula, knig kong, fu manchu, creature from the black lagoon, frankenstein, and much more that I can't quite remember now that it's 4 beers past lunchtime!

Still have these somewhere, must dig them out.

LeeT thought of doing a computer version of Top Trumps in this thread.

I didn't realise that there was a "create your own TT" application. I might have a go some time, with old computers as the theme. Unless RG do one for the cover of the mag as Lee suggested.

The only "real" TTs I have at the moment are my Buffy pack, and I might still have my old racing car (probably Formula 1) pack somewhere in the loft. I remember that the black John Player Special car was the best.

LOL, I used to have that set as well! Plus the Wild West, Supercars, and some others... Recently got the new Simpsons set, which is very funny.

Rik, Games Workshop used to publish some really excellent "Combat Cards", sort of their equivalent of Top Trumps. Featured pictures of exquisitely painted miniatures.

Didn't have many Trumps as a kid, faves were the Marvel ones (which weren't made by Top Trumps) and the spacecraft set that included ships from sci-fi movies -- unofficially, so they had different names and unrelated blurb.

Since the Trumps relaunch a few years ago I've bought most of the new sets.

I'm sure there was two different horror sets. One with Thor as top boy and the other with dracula and king kong in.

I also had starwars vehicles top trumps which were excellent except that they all claimed that the year of construction was in the 4th millenium (i.e the year 3000 onwards)....doesn't sound like 'A long Time ago....' to me

An interesting concept, but what would the categories be?

I only ever owned 1 set an dit was helicopters.

Yay, Top Trumps. Being a footy nut I had loads of those but haven't got them any more, big hair, "footballers haircut" and sideburns ahoy!!

I have got some Firebox.com and Simpsons ones now BTW - never did grow up...

Nice to see them back!!

Chapperz :D

PS Thanks to RetroRik for the female porn stars suggestion and Antiriad2097 for his reply - made me chuckle any way...

I did have some TTs (the sportscar ones come to mind), but the main things I had were Citadel Combat Cards. I had pretty much all the decks available I think, and games against my brother were simply endurance events.
