Celtic Frosts got a new album out really soon. Maybe all will be forgiven for Cold Lake, or maybe not!!!! Some sins can never be forgiven.

From the original list - Aerosmith and Van Halen are a definite - I always thought those guys where way cooler than your typical rock band.
I mean the likes of AC DC and Iron Maiden rocked, but visually I kinda thought they never really pull it off (although you can argue that's the attraction and what defined them as well...)

Like some of the other bods on here, I was well in to the glam metal of the 80s... I have to confess I even had the back combed long hair and shiney pvc trousers and er... the makeup

Some good stuff listed. Would also include:

Joe Satriani - not overly heavy but he sure can Rock.
Stratovarius - Finland's finest who, certainly until the album Element's Pt1, just got better and better.
Dragonforce - ok, so not exactly retro...
Scorpions - Love at First Sting (and the Moment of Glory stuff with the Berlina Philarmonica makes for a welcoming change).
Marilyn Manson
Twisted Sister

Oh yeah, this thread inspired me to dig out my old Whitesnake Saints & Sinners picture disc. First album I ever bought and covered in scratches but still sounds fantastic!

Thinking about it now, it wasn't the most appropriate record for an 8 or 9 year old (as I was at the time) but the rather dirty lyrics kind of washed over me back then...

The All-F**kin'-mighty! You, sir, have taste (though I don't know if I can quite bring myself to call them 'Retro'... same with my favourite band, The Wildhearts)

Anyway, my picks are Cheap Trick, Maiden, GnR (I did so much gaming to those two back in the day...), Metallica, Led Zep, Rainbow... Good times :)

Black Sabbath - We Sold Our Soul For Rock & Roll
Rammestein - Mutter

I recently went out and bought Megadeth's 'Countdown to Extinction' on CD. I had it on Cassette back in the day, along with quite a few of the others mentioned here.

Back then, the local library used to loan out CDs and Tapes and I would copy them on my Dad's stereo.

Remember kids, piracy is bad. OK :P
