Error messages when playing from Raspberry PI

Post by Bubbleboy » Thu Mar 11, 2021 6:43 am

Hello :)

I play form a Raspberry Pi with a hdmi-hand controller and I receive some error messages from time to time.
I would apreciate if anyone has a solution to this, thank you very much in advance.

This happens when "in-game" I press the START button: (see images)

I do not know what to press, and to avoid any damage I instead restart the whole thing every time :(

They don't look like errors to me, just options to select to configure the emulator.

Thank you Antiriad :)

I do know that I have to press other buttons than the game suggests for me sometimes, to get where I want, and the START button is one of them.
For example, when I want to exit a game to play a different one I have to hold "START+SELECT and press LEFT-BACK" :D

If I just want to play the same game again it suggests pushing START but I end up with these screens.
Du you have any suggestion on which one to choose to get back into the game without restarting the console?

As I mentioned, I am not a techie and I dont want to mess anything up :)

The button names won't necessarily match, so 'start' could be any button as defined by the emulator/front end.

I'm not a Pi user myself, so I can't really advise, I'm just going on archaic knowledge from when MAME etc were command line emulators.

I assume there's some means to configure a default config to use for a game (or games) and either that doesn't exist for the games you're choosing, or it's set to ask you which you want at start. There will be options somewhere to define this, possibly in a text config file, but I couldn't say where. I don't have much experience with retroarch or final burn alpha, which appear to be what your Pi is running. Someone will know...

Hmmm ok I understand. I am not capable to do any programming because I dont know what any of this means.
I just love to play these silly games :D
I will just leave this thread open and hope someone know what I should press :D

It isn't programming, it's just choosing menu options.

You need to remap the controller buttons. The "start" button on your controller is not mapped to "start" in retropie.

There should be an option in Retropie to change the controller button mapping.
