SONY PVM Calibration/Setup Needed UK

Post by KoniTec » Mon Oct 12, 2020 3:37 am

Hi All

First post here, would appreciate any help as im really struggling.

I have a Sony PVM20M2E which i use for retro gaming. I have re-capped the boards (took a very long time) and now I need the convergence setting up as the alignment is now off.

I have sent some companies emails asking if they do this service, most have said they don't and only offer repairs, the others haven't got back to me (I have a feeling they are small businesses which have been affected by Covid restrictions).

I have tried to do the setup myself, but go round in circles trying to use the magnetic convergence strips and no getting anywhere.

Does anybody know of any business or person who is able to setup/calibrate my CRT so I can continue gaming on it?

Many Thanks All

Usually such things have a service menu to adjust such things

Hi DPrinny

Yeah, so the service menu is very extensive with regards to adjusting settings (especially compared to a consumer CRT tv) and i have my head around how to edit/tweak these settings.

The issue I'm having is with the physical setup of the Convergence, which aligns the Red/Blue/Green beams to give a clear/crisp picture. After I re-capped my board this was out of alignment.

On the back of the Cathode Ray Tube (CRT) there are Convergence rings which have magnets in them which can be rotated to align these beams, but in addition to this, small magnetic strips are stuck on the back of the CRT to fine tune as the rings don't align the beams 100%.

Its this part I'm having massive trouble with, and it needs a specialist to sort out. Just really struggling to find a company/person who can do this.

Many Thanks

Konitec
