Strange question. Did you choose 1992 for a reason?
I would prefer to know what games people like before April 13th 1989
I suppose mine would be 3d Deathchase on the Spectrum.

The most frustratingly impossible game of all time is in someone's favourites list. I take my hat off to you, sir.
*tugs forelock*

Thoughts and prayers.

Uhh... you jest surely,
Armalyte is pretty
easy when you get to know it and i've certainly played far harder shooters on the C64 and indeed other platforms; if that's your idea of "frustratingly impossible", how would you describe
Project X on the Amiga or perhaps
Io on the C64... the latter of which is actually my all-time favourite game on
any platform but i didn't mention it because it's difficulty curve is steeper than
Armalyte and, despite it only having four levels, the way it hands the player their arse on a regular basis tends to put people off, apparently. =-)

"You'll know us by the trail of broken joysticks"
For years, just mentioning the phrase 'shoot 'em up' sent me into a cold sweat. Such was the emotional damage done to my young self by the creators of C64 Armalyte.
Real tears of frustration were shed in this teenager's bedroom.
Thoughts and prayers.
