CD32 Feature
Amiga CD32 feature with special mention to developers that could be bothered to add content to the games rather than just port them across.

Re: CD32 Feature
i never really got into the CD32 stuff, i did have a couple of machines but i think i traded one with shinobi a couple of years ago with the games,
ATARI....There can be only one !!!!!!!
Re: CD32 Feature
Were there any games with added content though? Apart from an upgraded audio track or a nice animated intro, I cant think of anything that was ported from the Amiga that had any meaningful added content. And there were very few exclusives, maybe a handful?BubbleMan wrote:Amiga CD32 feature with special mention to developers that could be bothered to add content to the games rather than just port them across.
Death may be your Santa Claus.
Re: CD32 Feature
I briefly had one but didn't use it much. Couldn't get over how huge the PSU brick was!
Would like to read up on the hardware conception and how such an awful CD drive was used in the final product.

Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

Re: CD32 Feature
The "double speed" CD drive was pants - I'm sure other CD-based consoles had faster drives !!!!Megamixer wrote:Would like to read up on the hardware conception and how such an awful CD drive was used in the final product.
Despite this, I liked the idea of the CD32, until I realised most of the games were A500 versions ported to CD (yeah, a lot of developers couldn't even be bothered to make AGA versions, just patching the OCS/ECS versions to work on the Kickstart 3.1/2MB CHIP RAM/AGA combo)
Re: CD32 Feature
Nope. Double speed drives were standard at that point.

Re: CD32 Feature
For consoles, certainly. The Saturn and PlayStation certainly have double speed drives, and I'd be surprised if any of the less popular machines of the time had better ones.AceGrace wrote:Nope. Double speed drives were standard at that point.
You could get some much faster PC ones, but you'd be paying the price of a console for the drive alone.

Re: CD32 Feature
The CD32 version of Skeleton Krew had LESS content than the Mega Drive version - it had a somewhat hip-hop-ish soundtrack, but this was at the expense of the extra (gigantic) last boss that the Mega Drive version has.
My comics blog (mostly lesser-known UK stuff from the 80s and 90s)

Re: CD32 Feature
if they do a CD32 feature then you need to talk about the MPEG module, SX1/2, and other stuff like that
Re: CD32 Feature
I absolutely loved my cd32 back in the day. Convinced about 4 of my mates to get them for Xmas too.
Re: CD32 Feature
Another interesting Commodore machine that is lurking just outside the mainstream. I use mine often, maybe in 1993 they were limited gameswise and also costly but in 2015 you can play practically all of the Amiga catalog on it and they are relatively cheap, I wouldn't be without my CD32!
Re: CD32 Feature
Yep, would love an in depth look at the machine. Would be great if they could cover EVERY game as I am still missing a couple....
