Reviews of The Downloadable Games For The Wii

Morning,

With the European launch of the wii now over with could the team now review the games that are currently available for download, please?

I know some of the titles were reviewed a few issues back, but I'm pretty sure that not all of the titles available to purchase were reviewed.

Also, I'm sure many of you can't have failed to notice that we seemed to have moved back to a Nintendo of pre-Gamecube standards, as many of the games available for download have been crippled.

I've downloaded Donkey Kong, and it's the crappy PAL version with massive PAL borders, and a speed that would make any gamer cry.

A mate has downloaded Golden Axe, and says this suffers the same problems, and the guys over on RLLMUK are (rightfully) moaning about Sonic, which again suffers from borders and a reduced speed.

I think the only way us gamers are going to get any chance of these sort of things improving over on Nintendo's download store is if magazines like Retro Gamer completely and utterly rip into Nintendo for trying to flog these second rate products on us.

For the record, the following titles seem fine:

Bonks Adventure
Bomberman 93
Mario 64

Cheers!

Rob

It'd be nice if we could. But, oh no. We get crippled versions! Yay!!!!!

The only thing it's doing at the moment is saving me some money. I'm not buying any more titles from their download store unless I know they're running correctly.

Is there a specific UK/European store?
Can't you buy from the Japanese/US stores instead?
And why have different stores in the first place?

I hope they're not going to make some games exclusive to Japan
there's no need with digital media to impose such restrictions

Yes. There are specific region stores.

Already the Japanese have titles available that we don't have. Plus, they run correctly.

Good site to look at :)
Aye, it is.

I hope they take my comments on board, and next to each game state if the game has been rectally PAL shafted or not.

I believe they are planning on adding that in due course.

This might be a daft question (I've only got mario64 downloaded so far) but do the games run any different if you set the Wii to 60Hz (or 480p)
