Possible Obscura Machina: Pioneer LaserActive

Post by betterwatchit » Wed Apr 27, 2011 5:02 pm

The Pioneer CLD-A100 (Known to most as the LaserActive) was a LaserDisc Player with a twist. It had four expansion packs (Or PACs as Pioneer called them) to enhance its capabilities. One was a PC Interface, another allowed the user to play LaserKaraoke discs.

Then there were the console expansions. One was made with Sega, and the other with NEC. The Sega PAC allowed users to play Mega Drive/Genesis titles, Mega/Sega CD titles and the exclusive Mega-LD titles. The NEC PAC allowed the user to play PC-Engine/Turbo Grafx 16 HuCards, CDs, and the exclusive LD-ROM² titles.

A few Mega-LD Titles (Courtesy of Fakk28):
I Will: The Story of London
Ghost Rush

A few LD-ROM² Games (Courtesy again of Fakk28):
Vajra
JB Harold: Manhattan Requiem

It cost around $900 at launch, and $400 per PAC, and only sold about 10,000 units.

OK, might get slagged of once again. But I do like an unknown Machine review. Especially if it has a picture of a Consloe Motherboard in it..
