Question about the magazines?

Post by demon cleaner » Thu May 20, 2010 2:21 pm

I have most of all the Retro Gamer magazines, only missing issues 1-3. And I guess that the Retro Gamer Collection bookazines are collected articles of older magazines and put together, is that right?

The thing I want to know is about the 3 RETRO bookazines, are they like the collection bookazines, or do they have completely different content, meaning that their content was not in any normal Retro Gamer magazine before?

Thanks and Greetings.

Didn't the earlier ones have an extra article or 2 in them that didn't appear in RG

Yes, the first one or two had (iirc) an extra article and some rejigged bits of old ones.

I think he's referring to the 'Retro' ones (such as the recent volume 3) which are made up of new articles and gamestm retro stuff?
Retro is a state of mind, and cares not for your puny concepts like dates and calendars.

As far as I'm aware, the Retro bookazines are compilations of games™ content. I've no idea how 'complete' they are, though.

Yes, exactly, was kinda difficult to explain :)

So they don't have anything to do with the normal Retro Gamer magazine stuff?

Not really. games™'s run its Retro section since issue 1, which I seem to recall Darran edited. Retro Gamer was originally a different company's mag. When Imagine bought Retro Gamer, it impacted on Retro's direction somewhat (to try and avoid crossover as much as possible) and there's been the (very) occasional piece of games™ reprint in Retro Gamer, along with Ash's review comments. But other than that, they're effectively entirely separate publications.
