Acorn Electron Question,

Post by oldtimer » Wed Apr 15, 2009 5:15 pm

Bought an Acorn Electron a few days ago for £3.00,took a risk as there was no psu.
Went to plug in one of my multi supplies and noticed the the voltage was a very unusual amount 19volts.
Can i use anythig less as i dont have an adaptor of that power ?
ATARI....There can be only one !!!!!!!

Nope, the full 19V is required!
Anything less, and the machine will be unstable (crashes) or just plain refuse to work.

You might sruggle there. Most 'Universal' mains adaptors only go up to 12v. A lot of Laptops use 19v though - a long shot I know

ebay is your best bet, you may stumble across an Electron PSU.

Electrons never fetch much on ebay, probably as well purchasing another one just for the power supply adapter, the adapter is non standard and I havent found anything to date which enables any degree of system stability other than the official mains adapter.
Good little machine though, sturdy as hell with an excellent keyboard (shame about the single channel sound).
