Article footer symbol

Post by AdamDawes » Mon Dec 12, 2005 6:50 pm

In general I think the design of the new RG is very nice, but there's one small thing that has disappeared that I'm missing: the little "article footer" symbol.

All the articles in RG used to finish with a little "RG*" symbol (which transformed into a space invader in later issues). Having this meant that I could glance at the bottom of the page and immediately see if the article finished there, or whether it continued on to the next page.

With this missing I have to go to all the effort of turning the page (!) to find out the same information. :)

Any chance we could have the symbol back?

Funnily enough, I actually mentioned the same thing to Markie in an email recently. It would be a good idea to have some kind of "article termination" symbol in the mag.

Yeah, a nice dingbat at the end of the articles would be nice. Either a little RG icon or a symbol/sprite connected with the article...

Yep, I noticed this too, I only had a few minutes free and couldn't decide what to begin reading as I had no idea whether the article last a page or 3, 4, 5 pages. YES I KNOW it sounds petty, but it was one of those "split-second" things that goes through your head at the time! It would be nice to have a neat little way of knowing "this is the whole thing".

A small Space Invader would be nice!

I'd go for this also.

I definately require an icon so I can determine if I have time to sit down and read that particular section. Theres nothing worse than having to stop reading half way through an article because you ran out of time.

Even if it was just the asterisk from the logo, that would help!

It's probably a pain in the ass, but how about using old (shrunken) "GAME OVER" screens (or just the text in various game fonts) at the end of articles?

(Have to put the 'O' there, cos another "Jax" pipped me to registration - bah!)
WTF!? The 80's are GONE!? And they're never coming BACK!?
