If I can't get 100+ lines after a couple of goes I know my Tetris game has slipped a lot. For me at least, 100 lines is exactly like being a batsman heading for 100 runs, you get the "nervy nineties" but if you break the 100 everything eases up a little and then I'm usually good for just over 120. IIRC 128 is my record which I can usually get close to on most occasions.

Seeing this thread made me dig out the GB for a quick game. The above image is the result (just ignore the "warm up" game in second place :P ). You'll just have to take my word for it that the lines were around 155.

I used to play this A LOT 15 years ago, dropping into a Zen-like trance. My record is around the 200 mark, score 300,000-400,000 (I think. Pretty sure I got a Space Shuttle taking off). A Tetris on level 9 is worth 12,000 points, so you're just as well starting on L9 if you're going for scores. Theoretically, you could get 300,000 points for clearing the first 100 lines solely with Tetrises.

God, now the dreams are gonna start again...

I've never, ever had a Tetris dream despite many late night sessions. I feel almost deprived! I did have a dream about the Scott Adams Incredible Hulk text adventure on the Speccy though.

Yeah totally agree, the fun really starts at 90+ lines. Bit boring before that but its good practice.

Still love playing the old GB version as it brings back a ton of memories. Superb game.

It's been years since I have played on an original game boy but I distinctly remember playing side by side with a friend I got 208 lines on mine and he got 209 lines (at which point I started hurling abuse at him). I think that is around level 20. On the DS version I got right to the end with a score in the 300,000+ region. (it seems alot slower/more responsive on the DS).

I've been playing Tetris quite a bit lately, so here's my best (starting from Level 0):

Score: 100360
Lines: 200 (the speed just CRANKS at 200...)

Like many a first gen Gameboy owner I used to play Tetris an awful lot. I haven't touched it for a while but after I saw this thread I thought I'd have a go. I dug out my GB Pocket earlier this evening..... first attempt was v.poor! I thought I had lost my touch - quite possible after playing Tetris Splash on the 360. My second go proved better. I can't remember the scores I used to get but this is probably one of the higher ones. I started on level 9

I had a go at Game B Level 9 High 5 a little bit later ...

Cheers. It was only around the 155 lines mark I think. The end screen wasn't displayed for long before it switched to the rocket blasting off! Otherwise, I'd have taken the pic with the lines displayed too. I'll have a few games over the weekend. I can see me getting hooked on Tetris again!

223 lines if I remember correctly. Score should be in the 500k area. I always try and get Tetrises :)
