Perfect Pac Man attempt - 15/04/2013

Post by Pacman 83 » Thu Apr 11, 2013 10:18 pm

After a long game which was over 6 hours after playing pattern-less through 21, I've finally managed to push my score into a new league.

3,317,480 points.

Missed the key on the splitscreen and died very quickly. I'm not familiar yet with the final board so under the circumstances (flu and a joystick that was rapidly failing) I really can't complain.
I was 8k shy of perfect 'points' and that needs some work.
Many thanks for the guys who tuned in and offered support, especially Mark Singleton who was hardcore to the bitter end 8)

Congratulations. Is Billy Mitchell the only person to have achieved the (verified) perfect score?

Well done, sir - most of all for the stamina! Pac-Man usually bores me within 20 minutes or so.

No. There's 5 others.

Rick Fothergill
Chris Ayra
Tim Balderramos
Don Hayes
Dave Race

Bill Mitchell was the only guy to complete a perfect game in a live environment.

Wow. I admire your endurance! I usually lose after a couple of screens. Keep it up!

I'm still trying to get a live perfect 'freehand' score at any event I can. As there's a few a year now, chances are that I may get it in the end
The reason for the live attempts was purely to do it in the old arcade fashion, in the live environment. Also that Bill Mitchell is the only person to have done one live. I was point perfect to the 3rd key twice at Manchester, but screwed up on both days
Unfortunately with this type of attempt, a 6 hour window is needed which obviously limits the amount of attempts you have.
I'm only 1790 points from a perfect game and even though my current score is #2 on TGs arcade list, I'm not submitting anything other than perfect now.

This is all frankly amazing.

I've got a question about the perfect game. I take it you need to get four ghosts on each power pill right?

Eventually though, the power pills seem to have almost no duration. I guess after a while they don't let you kill any ghosts. Does it ever get to a point where you can only get one ghost instead of the four though and is that part of the perfect score strategy?

I spent ages trying to get 16 ghosts on the first level for the achievement on the XBLA version, so doing that several levels running is just incredible to me.

Bettered my previous score at Play Blackpool twice in one weekend.

Had a 'perfect eat' on the Sunday (didn't miss anything,just died once) 3,333,270 = 6hr 20min

Got another shot at NERG next month. God I hope I settle this once and for all ....

Hi,

I missed this question.

For a perfect Pac Man, you must eat every ghost (all 4 regardless of the blue time) on every possible board. There are of course boards where they don't change (the first being the 5th key) but the most difficult ones are the 1 second boards (1st Galaxian etc)

This is where you must be able to group the ghosts in a specific order for a successful attempt. Miss one thing and it's over

Yeah, good luck. I'll be there, so I'll look out for you. I hope they have two Pac Man cabs, otherwise I don't think I'll get a go!
