As for people who might cheat and use save states; may I just point out that you're asking for a digital photograph as evidence?

I'm addinng all these games to the vote list in post 3.

In regards to save states. A photo is for evidence of the high score whether they use save states, emulation or genuine hardware.
Anyone can save the game on an emulator at any point. eg. before a boss. keep loading til you beat the boss without dying. next save at start of new level. save at point half way. load if you die. rinse and repeat.

This is such a good idea I signed up to take part. I'm surprised there isn't something like this going down on shmups.com.

I suggest we play Psyvariar Revision at some point. I admit, it's a game I've spent a lot of time on, but I think it's really under appreciated.

It's funny how there's all those shmups out there in gaming history, and the majority are wanting to play a frustratingly hard, headache inducing SNES shooter. I remember when i started using this forum on my old account and I collected Super Famicom/Snes games only. Nintendo was like a word no one used. It was almost frowned upon

Yeah that's a tough one to call. It's think it's more a shmup than a run and gun. Similar to guwange style or pocky n rocky? I might be wrong. It's also insanely expensive!

There's seems to be 12 people clearly interested, which is a good number if everyone posts a score.

I'm thinking something along the lines of the F1 points system for the top 10 entries.

The winner receives 25 points, second place gets 18 points, with 15, 12, 10, 8, 6, 4, 2 and 1 points for positions 3 through 10.

What do people think?

Sounds good to me. Possibly squash 1st, 2nd, and 3rd down to 20, 17, and 14 points? The actual scores for each game are likely to be close, so I think the league scoring system should reflect that.
