The version on PAL Taito Legends 2 is broken because you can't use the beam attack properly (NTSC-J Taito Memories version is OK though).

I'm not an expert on the game but I didn't notice any dodgy collision detection? :?

Yeah, as I mentioned on FB, Metal Black on Taito Legends 2 runs slower.

I might be imagining it but those bubbles on level 4 seem far keener to attach themselves onto you in the PS2 version - it's probably just me!

Me too, looking at the game running on the compilation there appears to be some strange cr@ppy-o-vision filter on it.

No, I was running the real thing in a real PS2.
That is what I am referring to - the emulator they created for the game for PS2 game compilation. You can run it in 60Hz mode.

Well, I'm kind of a noob in these technical matters, but here it is....

I'm running the Taito Legends 2 PAL version (bought it in Sweden).
I did choose the 60Hz option during the boot sequence, so I see no flicker at all.
I had already beaten Grid Seeker on this disc, and it ran just fine.
As I mentioned, in Metal Black I only notice some constant slowdown... I didn't get to test the beam thoroughly :oops:
