Bubble Bobble (MAME)

Post by Antiriad2097 » Sun Jul 23, 2006 8:09 am

Bubble Bobble
[bublbobl]
MAME

The Twin Galaxies Tournament Settings are the factory defaults, so we can use them and compare scores.

Settings:
1 Coin/1 Credit
Mode = Game, English
Difficulty = Normal
Bonus life = 30k 100k 400k
Lives = 3
Unknown = Off
ROM Type IC52=512kb, IC53=none
No continues allowed.

Stating the obvious: No cheating allowed i.e. there are some gameplay advantages that you can start the game with, these are not to be exploited

My version of MAME won't run this game. Can I use the Taito Legends version on Xbox but with the same settings?

No. Either get the MAME version that matches your romset (its possible to have more than one MAME version installed you know...) or update your rom to match your current MAME.

Being unable to sort out MAME is no excuse ;)

If all fails, PM me...

Hmmm. I have no way to prove this so I'm not going to submit it as a score or anything. Plus, it was on the actual arcade machine back in the 90s or earlier.. So who knows what settings it was on. But I got a score of (checking my old score book that hasn't been updated since I was about 16 ;)):

Bubble Bobble. One of the best games ever made.

1120430 done this lunchtime.

Was very lucky in that I got two umbrellas under level 20 which got me the secret on level 20 which is good for a few 100,000 points, then lost my first life in the level straight after it..... :cry:

I had big trouble as despite having played bubble bobble for years, I always do two player and am always player two (Bobblun) so had a bit of retraining to do!!!

he's called bob, just bob.

kids of bub and bob are bubby and bobby.

THEIR kids are bubblun and bobblun.

or summat like that.

on a side note, I prefer the hacked "super bobble bobble" as the first time I played bubble bobble was on said hack, way back when, in seacroft club just outside mablethorpe.

after that, i've always felt awkward playing the regular version.

I'm probably pretty pants at it anyway.

Got it on both MS and PS1.

One of my fave games of all time.

What proof do you need to show to qualify? How do you get this proof if required?

Thanks in advance.
