Well I'd have to agree on the Sanxion front, and throw outrun and space harrier into the ring as my favourite arcade game tunes.

But in terms of licenced commercial tracks in games (which I think is what the original post was getting at) - I like the Tony Hawk soundtracks because they're more in tune with the kind of stuff I generally listen to and in the case of the second one sent me forth to find more stuff by said artists.

Didn't think much of the games (namely due to the fact I'm naff at them) - but it's nice to just veg out to the soundtrack and try not to land on my face in many and varied ways.

Another one I really like is the soundtrack to jetset radio future - AFAIK its all licenced tracks (But I could be wrong - google seems to say otherwise) but it fits really well into the style of the game and adds to it. I remember crashing out on a mates sofa after a night out, him whacking the xbox on and seeing the intro with 'the concept of love' playing and a combination of being a bit *ahem* post-club and the music/visuals just really brought a smile to my face.

Also, the Machinae Supremacy soundtrack to Jets'n'Guns on the PC kicks butt... "real" music trying to sound like "game" music for a change!
Have to agree with ROad Rash there, sounds great on my 3D'OH 8)

I'd have to choose the Offspring in the Crazy Taxi games as my fave.
Seems to make the game seem so much more frantic.

Is this the same as Road Rash on the PC? That had Soundgarden doing one of the songs, good stuff.

Monkey Island 2. Those ditties are so catchy they make you want to BE a pirate.

I thought the Wipeout music is really well suited for that game but most new games that have anything to do with EATRAX are kak.

My favourite soundtrack of previously released commercial music is Vice City. Loads of classic 80's music. Right up my particular alley.

Chaos Engine, Speedball 2, Monkey Island series, Wipeout series, Bust a Groove, Gitaroo Man (OK, it's not retro. But it is great).

I wholeheartedly agree, with out the soundtrack the game isn't half as enjoyable

so best licensed son/soundtrack? I'll have to go for Crazy Taxi. Cant beatr a bit o' blue sky, bad religion and the offspring while scaring customers half to death.

Oh yes.

Millencollin - No Cigar 8)

Actually, that's the only track I can remember from that game.

Streets Of Rage 2 holds a special place in my affections.

It is still the only videogame soundtrack I can listen to all the way through.
