2. Axel (Streets Of Rage 1,2,3)
3. Guy (Final Fight 1,3, Street Fighter Alpha 1,2,3)
4. Vega (Street Fighter 2 series)

Hmmm... Mine are, Nina Williams from the Tekken series and Ryu from the Street Fighter series (Alpha 3 my fave fighting game ever).

Surprise, surprise, I'm going old-school on this one. You really had to be there in the arcade when Street Fighter II was first released to appreciate this one. On top of his edgy cool look, rumors were rampant about Guile's special moves (largely due to some bugs in the arcade machine that allowed Guile to do a "freeze pose" and use "handcuffs"). I remember people even claiming that Guile could pull out a gun if you entered the right combination of moves.

I think I'm a bit of a Nightmare from Soul Calibur fan at the moment, it's great killing all those cheesy online cheating fighters with him.

Law, from the original Tekken. Fantastic-looking game when it came out, and he had such a cool move, running up the opponent and doing a backflipping-kick off their chest.

Still good old Ryu (Street Fighter) for me. The era of mystery around him is what attracts so many fans I think. He really doesn't care about trophies or championship titles, he just wants to fight worthy adversaries and train to get stronger as he goes along.

Another favorite would be Makoto (SFIII and soon SSFIV). Looks like a cute little schoolgirl in karate class, but doesn't take censored from nobody.
