Hard to say, depends how you define "failed".
Even though it actually kinda did well, I'd say the Dreamcast. It was the most advanced console on the market (for its time) and it has one of my favorite games selections of all time. Its just to bad it ultimately died
Handheld wise I was dissapointed at the fact SNK stopped producing games for its Neo Geo Pocket Colour. It has the best pad (or stick) on a handheld and is unparralelled for fighting games (SNK Vs Capcom is still my fav handheld fighter of all time) and a small yet sweet games library.

Personally I wouldn't call the Neo Geo AES failed. The life cycle of roughly 14 years is more than most other systems can dream of. Yep, the price of some games is expensive, but that doesn't necessarly make it fail.nesmaster wrote:Mine has to be the neo-geo aes. Its got great games but they are too damn expensive!!
For me it was definitely the last Sega Systems. Either Saturn and Dreamcast should have fared much much better. But I still like them

I agree, the AES wasn't a failure, it was an expensive machine that catered for a market that could afford arcade perfect games hence not many people owned one.
The NGPC on the other hand was a failure, but it narrowly edges the Virtual Boy (for Wario land) & the GX4000 (for Pang & Switchblade) out of the way thanks to it's utterly brilliant SNK vs Capcom: Match of the Milennium & fast paced Gals Fighters.

I'm with Shadowman, the NGPC was a fantastic little machine.
Very fond of the WonderSwan too.

The Mega CD was DEFINATELY a failed system.
However, it was one of the first CD based console add-ons.
It had some stand out games (Snatcher, Final Fight CD, The Terminator, Shining Force, The Space Adventure, Sonic CD, Robo Aleste) buried under all the usual FMV bobbins.
Sadly, it's price meant that it was destined to die a slow death.
It's a shame, as with a few more AAA titles, this could have been saved.
A version of Street Fighter 2 that was planned could have done wonders for the machine, and a port of MK2 would also have helped sales.

Does the Game Gear count?
Anyway, the Game Gear. First gaming device that I ever played. Yeah, it was a brick, it had a short battery life but it was still awesome. It was back lit and it had great graphics! That type of technology was mind blowing at the time.
