Mario Kart Wii

Post by TheDude18 » Sun Apr 13, 2008 7:02 am

Ive only played it for a couple of hours but so far it's very very good. The stearing wheel control works very well but you can also use a veriety of other ways to control inc. gamecube pads(4 player for me :o ) The tracks that I've played so far are better designed than the gamecube/N64 versions. they arent as long and there are less periods where one racer can win with a substantial lead. There are also a veriety oftracks from all the other versions of Mario Kart(retro!) like the GBA's shy guy beach.

The new power-ups work well(bullet bill is too powerful though) the thunder cloud being my fav. The amount of karts that are in a race is now up to 12. Online racing is excelent.

I think it is any 2 and its a tenner, but I may be wrong.

You can get the game and an extra wheel (so you get 2) for £40 in Game.

RIght, this is top fun, how about some friend codes, and then some friendly races, with a possible league, and/or some time trialling.

Is the kart no. and friend no. the same? Ive never had to use the friend codes before.

I'm well up for some multiplayer games.

Forgot to add - The game has the best use of mii's yet. You can use them in the game, represent you online,in the crowd during the race and on the advertising boards on some of the tracks! It was a bit weired to see my father in law advertising coffee!

Yeah, I'm up for some, will get my friend code later.

And, although I didn't mind the Wii Wheel too much, I switched to the Classic Controller which is somewhat better.

After experimenting with wheel, wavebird, but strangely not my classic controller I've decided that the nunchuck combo is my weapon of choice.

Oh, and I don't advise anyone play this in 50hz, I did for a while and it ruins the framerate. My guess is that to make it fair worldwide it runs at 60hz, then just tries to match the frames to 50hz, which causes it to look like it's skipping frames all over the place as it waits for a vsync

I can see one of my 'Nintendo are screwing up the Wii with its inept handling of online play' rants coming on
