Retro Result at Gamestation!!

Post by David » Mon Apr 07, 2008 8:54 am

Just went down to trade in a couple of 360 games. Had the usual peek in the window and never seen anything interesting.

Ended up with about £40 on my trade-ins but nothing interested me.

As I was leaving the shop I had another peek in the window, and I don't know how I hadn't noticed it before, but there wa sa Master System with 15 games (all unboxed) for £42.99!!!

Sooooooo, since I have never owned one (I had a NES and a Spectrum back in the days of the Master System!) tell me what games I should be looking out for!

The ones that came with this are:

Sonic The hedgehog
Sonic The hedgehog 2
Speedball
R Type
Paperboy
The Ninja
Shinobi
Wonder Boy 3
Smash TV
Ghosts & Goblins
The Ninja
Moonwalker
Back to The Future 3
Desert Strike
Robocop vs Terminator

That's not bad value considering you get all those games for it!

Is it the 2nd version of the MS that had Alex Kidd built in?

this is the old clunky shaped one - was it Hang on that was built into this one?

I want Alex Kidd :(

I seem to recall my original master system had some pants maze game built in to it. Hang On came on one of those early game card thingys that go in the slot in the front of the Mark 1's.

I always advise anyone with a master System to get 'Psycho Fox', brilliant platformer; almost a sonic beater on the MS.

The MS also has a good versions of Rampart and marble madness.

Congratulations on getting a top console mate, it was my very first console ever, and I still rate it highly now.

Try and get hold of

Alex Kid in Miracle World (if you are lucky, it may be already built in, turn the master system on without a cartridge inside to check).

Also look out for Astrix and Super James Pond II.

One of my MS got Alex kidd built in, others got Super hang on, an MS2 got sonic built in, haven't they all got that maze game built in, you just hold a button down when you first switch it on?
Retrotechy.

I think only the first model Master System had that little Snail maze game. If I remember right you hold diagonally down-left and button 2 when you start up, but it's been a lot of years since I done it.

Brilliant deal.

The sonics and r-type, along with speedball, ghouls n ghosts and desert strike is what would keep me going for ages.
Thoughts and prayers.

I still think it's too expensive for what you got.

You should also consider.......................

Fantasy Zone
Phantasy Star
Alex Kidd in Shinobi World
Psycho Fox
Penguin Land
Power Strike 2
Renegade

I guess it depends on whether he scours booties at 7a.m on sundayz. Both my MS1's cost a quid each and ms2 was 3 quid with a couple of games thrown in, not a bad lot of games though!!

£43 for a SMS and 15 unboxed games

Hope you get your money's worth out of it, because you paid well over the odds.
