I remember dropping the pad and yelping at the Resident Evil dogs sequence mind you.

One of my biggest videogame shocks was to finally complete Ghouls 'N' Ghosts on the MegaDrive, drop to my knees in relief/exhaustion, only to find I had to go all the way through it again  :x

Meh...They just copied Alone in the Dark. It had the exact same scene: a demon dog bursting through the window. Which really scared me quite a lot.

And bugger...I hadn't finished Karateka (I really loved that game). I might try to complete it now just to get my ass kicked by the princess.

That's nothing:

Finally getting Sam Fox's boobs out on my TV (playing Sam Fox's Strip Poker C64) only for my nan to walk in as I attempted to "enjoy the moment"
The dry fart for Barry MacDermot and all the cancer patients in the Glamorgan testicle ward

That's a really good Top 5 - perhaps only KOTOR that I don't care about, but the others sound great. I'd probably add Double Dragon to the list where you have to kill each other at the end - v amusing :D

The opening sequence of Double Dragon 2. I saved Marrian 100's of times over on Double Dragon 1 and the silly bint goes and get's shot within the first 5 seconds of the second game.

What, right at the start? That was a dog? It looked like a chicken. An angry chicken, but certainly a chicken. Either way, that was indeed pretty scary too. I think the start of Alone in the dark, where you are in the loft, and you have block the windows and the loft-hole - that's pretty scary too.

Have you played it?

I remember when I found it out, was a great plot twist, one I really didn't see coming despite the hints. Probably helps I really like the game and Star Wars itself too.

I dont think that top 5 is very good to be honest.

Possible spoiler warning, though there will be no details

What about the more sinister endings in Silent Hill 2, play it to find em

The librarians rather insidious plan in the first Halo

The twins secret in code veronica

Being knocked out and waking without any weapons in Half Life, and then the incredible ending

Ravenholm in half life 2, the worst place to go in a video game ever

The begining and ending for Halflife Episode 2

Getting Strogged in Quake 4

Finding your neighbour in the subway Silent Hill 4

Eternal Darkness wiping your memory card

Shadowman hearing his brother crying

Nei's fate in Phantasy Star 2, if you thouhgt FFVII had it all try this.

Grim Fandango's final act still puts a lump in my throat

Grandia 2 has an awesome crescendo towards the end

The first time you reach level 3 in R Type is jaw dropping

The fog when the player becomes infected

And getting laid in Mass Affect was a nice surprise ;)

And so it goes on, impossible to name a top 5, but it sure aint the above
