C64 Mouse

Post by Mantas » Tue Mar 25, 2008 10:38 am

Just bought a NEOS Mouse and Cheese. I was just wondering if this can be used in games like Defender of te Crown or Enigma Force. I have a sneeky suspician that it won't work but I can live in hope.

Not unless you have mouse specific versions, I had a datel C=64 mouse many a year ago that came with a mouse specific version of operation wolf!

I've just sold a very similar one, but this one came with an art package:

The NEOS mouse has a joystick emulation mode (hold LMB down on power up i think) so it can play games to a degree, but most aren't coded to allow for mouse input since there's four or five variations on the theme. Arkanoid has some mouse support, but i can't think for the life of me which flavour.

Think the original Arkanoid supports Neos mouse and paddles, sequel (Revenge of Doh) supports Commodore or Neos. There's definitely a version of Operation Wolf that supports the Neos mouse as well.

Arkanoid II definitely supports the mouse.

My Operation wolf had Neos mouse support, as far as I know all versions did. Never knew of any other games that did though. As mentioned before, holding down one of the buttons on power up put the mouse in joysick mode, but this only worked digitally and so was very pointless. That Cheese program was great though, spent hours with that.
