Twisted Metal, which was released for the PS1 in 1995, is set in 2005. It's sequel, Twisted Metal World Tour, was released a year later and was set in 2006. :)

The first Ghost Recon - released in 2001, set in 2008 (so, almost the past ;)). And, as far as I'm aware, ultra-nationalists have not seized power in Russia, with plans to rebuild the government.

Also, Street Fighter 2010 on the NES isn't too far off, kids.
