playstation network sucks!
hi there! Got a ps3 recently, as a big sony fan and having loads of ps2 and ps1 games still i thought it was a great idea! The actual system and games are great, but i hate playstation network! All they release on there are film previews and demos, im so jealous of nintendo and even xbox owners with the choice they get from their respective online stores! Someone please tell me its going to get better!

But you can't really buy stuff from the overseas stores without having a USA/Japanese credit card which sucks.MikeHaggar wrote:If you get an US and JAP account then it gets better
The selection isn't the best but games like Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection and Super Stardust HD are worth looking into, I only really use the store for demos anyway.

Apparantly HOME will be released around Spring 2008, so its looking late Q1 or early Q2 and thats assuming it has a global release, it wouldn't suprise me if its delayed in Europe like every other item on the Playstation Network.

What has happened to the open beta though? Wasn't that supposed to be out in November/December?
The Last Ginja knows of an easy way to get an US CC. And you can get cards for the JAP store?ShadowMan wrote:But you can't really buy stuff from the overseas stores without having a USA/Japanese credit card which sucks.
The Open beta has been pushed back to early this year, we should be hearing about it shortly if all is well.MikeHaggar wrote:What has happened to the open beta though? Wasn't that supposed to be out in November/December?

Your right about the cards for the Japanese store, I completely forgot about that! Aparantly Sony is starting to do the same with the USA as well.
Which reminds me, I have a Japanese version of Motorstorm (I know, I was impatient), would I have to buy the new tracks and such from the Japanese store since the game is from Japan also (I suspect I do, but its good to know)

Just keep in mind they are still region coded unlike the PS3 games, so only PAL games work on a PAL console.
Also, has anyone noticed significant lag when playing PS1 games on the PS3? All 6 of my Mega Man games have terrible button lag making them unplayble.

Excellent. Finally a reason to invest in a PS3....the PSone! Think I might pick up a few more PSone games then.MikeHaggar wrote:Yup. You can even play PS1 games on the 40GB model too.Kaede wrote:Random question: Does PS3 also play PSone games as well as PS2/3?
Shadowman, cheers. It'll be a while yet but I'd want to get a JPN version anyway.
PSN content is awful. No one would ever guess looking at what is available Sony Music, Sony Movies and Sony TV actually do exist. It's pathetic. I mean surely a Sony specific iTunes clone shouldn't be so hard?
There are a couple of games of note. Stardust is OK. Flow is not bad either. The PS1 downloadable stuff is dreadful mind.
Demos are nearly always late compared to the 360.
Online connectivity isn't bad. Warhawk was the best example. And Resistance both play pretty good.
Tekken Online was a mixed bag. Finding a match seemed really clunky and hard. Once you were fighting it could be OK. Sometimes it was dreadful.
The best thing on PSN was the GT:HD IMHO. I also downloaded GT5 Japanese demo and that's, at best, is OK.
Home looks promising. I look forward to creating a 3DO museum
