Does anyone remember this game or has actually played this game?
If so, is it any good?
I remember this game being released in the UK back in 1992 and seeing it in the shops when the Super Nintendo took off and then the game vanished without a trace.

Played this back in the day and thought it was pretty dire. It did have a 2 player option though unlike the otherwise superior Final Fight, which meant we got a few hours worth of play out of it. (I think There's also a special Vs. mode in it somewhere?)
Super Play slated this game as well if I remember correctly.

That's exactly what I would say about it. Wasn't that special. But at least could play it coop with a friend. So for a few hours you had some fun. But playing that game alone is simply boring ...

It's called Rushing Beat in Japan and it had two sequels, both of which are a bit 'meh'.

I'm a huge fan of the Final Fight series, so I like this game too...
Not as good as FF though... I never had anyone to play co-op with, so I can't really say but it does sound good...
But I'd agree to say the game is average at best...

That's right. It was okay for a while, but gets very repetitive later on. Wasn't realistic enough compared to
Final Fight. Plus the lead characters' punches looked kind of wierd.

Rushing Beat 2 was known as
Brawl Brothers in the West.

The enemies in Rival Turf are very cheap, but so is the game itself. It regularly only goes for a few $ on Ebay, so if you're curious you'll get a bit of fun out of it before it starts to annoy you.
As suggested before, the best bet is to get the sequel Brawl Bros which has 5 characters & is much more balanced. The other sequel was released in the west, but I forget the name it went under...
Apparently all 3 games were censored &/or changed in major ways, & not for the better. Best bet is to buy the Japanese versions. There are a few websites out there documenting the differences if you're interested.

This Rival Turf game looks like a rip-off of Final Fight.

There was an one-on-one review article between those two games in an issue of Nintendo Magazine System. Must be around 1992. As the result through overall score,
Rival Turf earn a very disappointing 47% and
Final Fight became victorious with 92%.

I seem to recall renting it based purely on that fact.

I think we'd already guessed that.
