My favourites have got to be Golden Axe 2 on the Megadrive, Golden Axe: Revenge Of Death Adder on the Arcade and Golden Axe: The Duel on the Saturn.
The soundtrack in Golden Axe 2 is very good.
Golden Axe: Revenge Of Death Adder has got to be the best Golden Axe game yet but why it never came out on any home formats, I don't know
Golden Axe: The Duel is a very enjoyable Street Fighter clone.
What about everyone else?

Original is still the best IMHO.

Golden Axe is one of those games that just isn't as much fun to play today as when it came out. I still enjoy it every now and then for a bit of nostalgia, but really it's a little too basic and repetetive for me to get stuck into it these days.
Golden Axe the Duel is a surprisingly decent 1 on 1 fighter, I loved the scaling graphics.

I voted for the first one. Part 2 was way too difficult in the later part. And 3. I don't know. It just didn't feel right.
Never played Revenge of Death Adder though. Is it really that good?

It has to be the first one. Did remember the review for Golden Axe II in the Sega Power magazine.

Golden Axe 2 on the Mega Drive is the only one that I've owned/played for any length of time. I really liked it, especially in 2 player mode.
I've played the Amstrad CPC version of Golden Axe briefly on an emulator and it seemed very similar, just with more primitive graphics.

Because Golden Axe isn't censored !!!
Anyway, the original is the best!

You best not be "dissing" the CPC

I use to love the original, but, alas, time has done it no favours...

You don't know how tempted I was to abuse my moderator powers and add such an option when I first saw this thread!

That's where my vote'd be going, although i'd have used a slightly less rude word because i'm a bit more polite, like...

I voted for the first game. It brings back hugely nostalgic feelings for me, encapsulating the whole reason I play retro games.
Thoughts and prayers.

Yeah, agreed. Used to love slogging it out on Both 1 and 2 in the past, but I almost fall asleep playing them these days.
