I thought it might be D/Generation on a 16-bit but Google Images tells me I'm wrong.

Got it!
I liked how the game was frantic, with many things to keep an eye on at the same time: core stability, system integrity... when gravity was shutted down the droids could not move, floating here and there. Gameplay was varied also, since there were different ways of neutralising the intruders at different stages of invasion. Also the Alien3-like dumped-alone-in-a-forgotten-hole feeling was quite strong.
In my opinion, replaying it now, only the control system seems not to have aged well, but it's still very enjoyable.
