#4 - Get Dexter - published by ERE. For the Amstrad CPC 464

A brilliant game, also known as 'Crafton & Xunk' in France where it was originally released. It was a 3D isometric adventure which allowed for much more creativity and freedom of movement than Head Over Heels. You could stack objects on top of each other to reach doors high up on the walls. You could push and pull things, barricade doorways...
The playing area was small compared to say Batman or Head Over Heels, but certainly large enough to keep you playing for a long time.

A brilliant game and one I go back to every year or so to complete once again.

Dammit Janet.

ok, how about...

#4 - THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW by CRL (Amstrad version)

The reason ? Well, from the wonderfully faithful rendition of 'The Time Warp' to the graphic rendition of the Transylvanian castle with the flashing 'Enter At Your Own Risk' on the gates, it was a wonderfully off-the-wall game with a great sense of fun about it. The pseudo 3D world was a pleasure to explore and few other Amstrad games had that type of design - reminiscent of some Spectrum games like Monty Is Innocent and Dragontorc.
The simple but tried and trusted 'Collect all parts of item X and arrange them at location Y' worked well within the game and last but not least, the fact that if Frank N' Furter bumped into you, you lost all of your clothes and had to find them... well that always made me smile!

A great game from an underrated software company of the era.

DOOM 2 (PC)
The added monsters made for a much more balanced game than Doom 1 and Doom 2's double barrel shotgun is still my favourite fps weapon. Still download the ocational .wad file.

Fair enough for a choice, but part of this thread is about why each person thinks their choice should be included. Therefore, please could you provide a sentence or two about why you chose the game, and why it should be on the list? Ta.

Also, which platform are you talking about? Presumably, the CPC version?

With the original list now being edited (you know why), we now have just THREE places left on the list. Therefore, get in quick! (I'm talking to you, Mr. Editor!)

Hi - I've just edited the post to include the 'Why'.

Mr Grannell you are a just man, not dark but beautiful and terrible as the Morning. Treacherous as the Sea. Stronger than the foundations of the earth. All shall love you and despair

I choose:

Monty on The Run (C64)

Why? Because for me, it's a near perfect platformer. Challenging as hell and with a fantastic soundtrack that NEVER gets annoying despite being on a loop, this is the one game that I could play over and over again on my C64.

Defintely a "one more go" game.

[Edit — this is game #3 in the list — Craig]

Well chosen Dell_Zincht!

The C64 version was without doubt the best of the bunch and is my favourite platformer of all time. :D
