Doing a quick system count, I've come up with the list below. Note, however, that because some naughty scamps chose multiple systems instead of just one (or didn't specify a system at all), this is a little skewed, but there you go.

[edited June 28 after clarification of votes]

1: C64 (15 votes)
=: Amiga (15 votes)
3: PC (10 votes)
=: ZX Spectrum (10 votes)
5: Arcade (8 votes)
=6: Amstrad CPC, PlayStation (7 votes)
7: Saturn (6 votes)
8: MegaDrive (5 votes)
9: SNES (4 votes)
=10: Atari ST, NES, Dreamcast (3 votes)
=11: Master System, N64 (2 votes)
=12: Macintosh, BBC Micro, VIC20, PC Engine, Atari 2600, C16/+4, Acorn Archimedes, Neo-Geo, Sega CD
This could easily start another discussion. What's the ONE other game that should've DEFINATELY made the list but didn't?
Well, everyone had their chance!

I am suprised that the Amiga didn't come out tops. Also suprised at how many PC games are listed.

SirClive!

Outrun!

And why the hell is GTA:VC included? And the PC version above the PS2 version at that.

It's just not retro in any way shape or form.

For that to be in there and not Wonderboy in Monsterland or Outrun as is sacrilege.

Quite agree with Vice City that the PS2 is better. Is that the newest game on the list? October 2002 if my sources are right so 3 and a half years old with the console still current gen (for a short while anyway). Maybe a stewards enquiry is needed (only joking Craig  )

And no Tetris (GB).

That would have to have been included. Without it the Gameboy would probably have been a flop. Probably. Even my mom played it!

I'm glad Manic Miner made the list and not Jet Set Willy.

Soz just noticed the thread.

Would have posted with my suggestions had I realised sooner.

It's a good list. Some really poor omissions. Some really fine and unexpected inclusions. Definately some I would never have included.

The biggest headache is the including sequals or not. If you don't I couldn't decide between Super Mario World and Mario 64. I wouldn't have had both Elite 1 and 2 though. One or the other and I'd have to go with the original.

I also don't think Conkers Bad Fur Day is that good a game and is occupying the space that far better games could have taken.

Well, I never heard of an Amiga version of Sam & Max, but even if there was, I'd still pick the PC Talkie over that. Hence my vote.
Amiga: "Insert Disk 7"
User: "When I work out how to magically pull that out of my **** I will, because it's not in the box."

OMG! No Castlevania.

But more to the point, no Dracula X (PCE)!

R-Type (PCE/Arcade)

PC Kid (PCE)

Super Metroid (SNES).

I'm glad the people here haven't just picked the 'usual' classics such as Tetris, Gradius etc. Although they are good, they appear in every poll, and the list would have ended up like the recent one in GamesTM (which I found quite poor).

This list shows a lot more diversity and a few more obscure titles.

THis Top 100 is the without doubt the best top 100 in all the years I've counted myself as retro :?

I am really going to enjoy working through these games!

How about another section on this forum for our opinions on each game we play? :?:

I second this :D

It would be good if a 'sticky' thread was made for people to post comments.

I was in the No.12 group of being the only person to post a game for my chosen platform.
I would definetly like to hear other peoples opinion of my choice, which is probably one of the more 'unusual' ones mentioned ;)
