Why would it matter when ‘Official’ support stopped?Randall Flagg wrote:Hmmmm...When did "Official" support for the DC stop??? PS2 is still officially supported so how the hell can it be retro???
Nobody ever talked about ‘official support’ for the Spectrum or Commodore 64, as being the benchmark of its lifetime.
I have them al, and none of them can be seriously called 'retro', and won't be for at least five+ years.bolda wrote:PS2 - no
Game Cube - no
Dreamcast - no
Eh, how do they 'look' retro, they have a lot of the same games as the PS2 and Xbox, and they look more or less identical!?!?!?The Master wrote:The Dreamcast and (especially) the GameCube look retro, though...
Two people think the PS2 is retro!?!
WHY!!!

Do you think the 360 is ‘retro’ because the launch date has passed?
Do you live 20 years in the future and just pop back here on occasion?
Have you any idea what the word ‘retro’ means?

LOL Not a particularly good way to judge if something is retro or not thenThe Master wrote:I meant the shape of the consoles, not the graphics...

I still think some real retro machines look quite 'futuristic' looking

Still, I'm not quite sure how the DC and Cube 'look' retro ???
I suppose they are 'Top-Loaders'

Another 'Nope'. The PS2 is still playing host to the best games of the past 2 years. It's still in Dixons. It can still take on the 360, Wii and PS3 even.
The DC is only retro-ish because it features so many last generation arcade style games. Sega Rally 2, Virtua Cop, Daytona, etc. Even Crazy Taxi. It was a modern game but felt very retro, even at the time I thought.
The Gamecube isn't retro either. Way too modern.
The PS1? surely it's retro? It's been around 15 years. Bless it's little cotton socks.

That's because you didn't need to get permission to release a spectrum or C64 title legally.

Isn't there a new special limited ceramic edition of the PS2 coming out too?
Sony still make them, they're planning a new model. What's the problem?
However, I would seriously like to hear the reasons for why the two people have said that the PS2 is retro. And if they were joking, I think the mag should publish the first ever 100% pie chart poll!!!

Ok the other one was me.bonerlaw wrote:Man, you guys are so easy to wind up! Of course the PS2 isnt retro, but it was worth clicking yes just to see the OTT reactions that would occur!!!
Ok........I said it was a joke.....................please............put down the bat.................OW! That bloody hurt!
I just did it for the crack as well.
There's plenty of games on PS2 that count as retro. One of them was a main feature in RG just this month.
