If you look at the writing on the machine, it suggests Asia somewhere.

Spot on....

Quote from the site below....

"Confiscated gambling machines are destroyed by a local public security bureau in Foshan, China."

On the other hand, since when was a confiscated gambling machine a home made MAME cab?

Since now. They just look like home made games machines to me going by the shape of them and i would say a large percentage of home made games cabs are running Mame.?

Yeah but if they were just MAME cabs why would they even be confiscated in the first place? Obviously if they were gambling machines and the owner of the premises didnt have a licence for gambling that makes them illegal.

I think if you put money in them then you still need a licence. I guess the person who wrote the quote could have worded it better.

My guess is that if you set up a dodgy business in China producing illegal gambling machines, you're probably going to end up making a bunch of things that look somewhat similar to a home made cab (and you might even have a few re-purposed arcade cabs as well)

Anyway, most of the units I can make out in that pic (apart from the more professional looking ones) look like they have a small vertically oriented screen that is positioned slightly off-centre with some kind of coin slot or some other mechanism next to the screen... not exactly the standard arcade cab set-up.

Hmmm....all of these cabinets seem to have a similar design, blue color and they're probably made out of cheap wood.

What interests me more are the Jamma cabinets on the upper-right of the picture. I'm sure they've gotten quite a bit of rain damage, but taking a pair, replacing the monitors with some LCD panels, and linking them up with Dreamcasts, complete with Twin-Sticks and Virtual-On, and I say you've got a nice set-up. :)

Why would you use an LCD thats not going to be running at its native resolution? Bleurgh.
Stick a cheap CRT in. You'll get a bigger, better display at a fraction of the price.
