In no particular order:

1. Turrican - A great conversion and possibly one of the most beautiful games on the CPC, and it’s huge! I had months of play out of this.
2. Gauntlet – It has the speed of the arcade version and the wonderful graphics, loads of fun in two player too.
3. Rainbow Islands – Another excellent arcade conversion
4. Dynamite Dan – Brilliant music and an amazing challenge, can be a little frustrating but I love it
5. Eagles Nest - Wonderful gauntlet style game set in Nazi Germany.
6. Colony – You play a robot trying to grow mushrooms on a space base for profit, sounds strange but this brilliant resource management game.
7. Head over heels – Should be on everyone’s list, fiendish puzzles, great isometric graphics, and a wicked sense of humour. A true CPC great
8. Ikari Warriors – Great graphics and playability, quite close to the arcade version only cost me £1.99 back in the day and I’m still playing it today.
9. Gryzor – Pressing up on the joystick to jump is the only thing that lets this game down great conversion
10. Rex – Little known game with huge colourful levels, loads of power – up weapons, and tight gameplay make this a lovely little platform shooter.

Yes, I'm going to ignore the retro-facists and name some CPC games I like too:

North & South, IMHO trumps the other 8-bit conversions - even the NES. The c64 conversion was good (but the battles sucked a bit), I just think the CPC graphics followed the original comics consistantly.

Elite, it was good on other machines too - but the CPC had a nice noise when you shot things.

Rainbow Islands, when you plugged the CPC into an amp it sounded like an arcade machine.

Rampage, I kind of liked the european conversions and this is the best version musically. I can't get the tune out of my head, and it's been nearly twenty years.

Chase HQ, the spectrum version with colour :P

Satellite Warrior, mostly forgotton Multi-Player Amsoft game, build satallites - send them to a moon and shoot your mates down. I loved this game.

Drip Zone, Public Domain breakout/arkanoid clone.

Renegade, It's a nice version

Barbarian, ..is best

The Bards Tale, The CPC had a nice community surrounding this game.

I hated isometric puzzle games, one of the first CPC games I played was Knightlore and I got bored very quickly. I hated Batman too.

I'm sure they were just far too clever looking for me.

Yep some good titles there, I'd forgotten about how good Renegade was, I'll have to dig that out

There were good and bad isometric games, I must admit I wasn't a huge Knightlore fan myself some of the puzzles were a little too unlogical and difficult to be fun. But I loved both Batman and HOH :D

Being the proud owner of a Green-screen CPC464 with stereo speakers, I feel I can add some value to this also :)

(I have no idea how good these games were in colour though !!)

In no particular order:

1. Super Robin Hood - Awesome platform game, finished it!
2. Head over Heels (of course)
3. Batman - the movie one, not the Jon Ritman isometric
4. Robocop - was also real good on Amstrad - great music too
5. Crazy Cars! - Transforming cars :)
6. Rygar - was ACE on Amstrad
7. Thundercats - so was this - best version in fact
8. Treasure Island Dizzy
9. The Bards Tale - played this for hours. Looking back it was actually a bit crap.
10. Super Ski Simulator - seriously. I liked this.

Also, Never play Wizball on Amstrad. It's really, really, really S H I T
