You two are definitely Saturn-heads! Good stuff!
I do like the look of the Grey Saturn, but there is that fear it will yellow, as you mentioned. My grey Playstation doesn't quite have the same look as it used to, neither does my SNES, Amiga or Dreamcast, although they're not too bad.
AH, that reminds me of the juvenile taunts in an N64 magazine, they used to call its "rivals" the Sadturn and the Greystation. How original and witty eh?
I'll check out your link Rossi.

I'll know who to turn to if my one breaks downspeedlolita wrote:I've owned more Saturn hardware than games I must confess..

Its a beautiful machine, and seems solidly built, I like it. All three consoles from that generation do look nice though.
Have to say, my initial impressions of the Saturn as a games console are impressive. I like the control pad, the games are solid enough, and Virtua Fighter II is absolutely STUNNING! I'm glad i was supplied with a proper SCART cable to appreciate it further, but I can't believe VF2 runs on the Saturn!

Try turning it on straight away after playing it for an hour or so. The PSU in my black Saturn has a wavy line issue that shows itself if you do that. Have been investigating how to fix it and think I may have found how to.

I'd be quite interested to investigate this further to see if it's a fault that only affects certain PSUs or all of them, of the first two revisions of PSU at least.

Yay my White JP Saturn just arrived! RGB Scart looks so much better than the off-white, muted colours of AV.

Quality. I have both revisions of Sega's official RGB SCART cable, wonderfully clean image from the Saturn.

I'd go along with the sentiments that the Model 1 is the slightly better looking console but the Model 2 had the better controller.
Some more recommendations:
Baku Baku (ace puzzler, generally goes for a few quid either side of £15)
Fighters Megamix (VF vs Fighting Vipers dream match, usually less than a tenner)
Winter Heat (sequel to Athlete Kings, again about a tenner)
Steep Slope Sliders (great snowboarder, fiver on a good day)
F1 Challenge (hugely under-rated racer, £5-8)
Sega Ages vol. 1 (OutRun, Space Harrier and After Burner II, once again shouldn't pay much more than a fiver)

I've taken your advice on Winter Heat - just bought for 9 quid. Looks like a fun game, and compliments Athlete Kings well.Liamh1982 wrote:I'd go along with the sentiments that the Model 1 is the slightly better looking console but the Model 2 had the better controller.

I have been thinking about Fighters Megamix, but i think I'll pass on it for the time being, as I have quite a few 3D beat em ups including VF2 and Fighting Vipers individually. I'm not a MASSIVE 3D beat em up fan but i'll see how i go with the ones i have for now.
F1 Challenge may appeal, but looks quite ropey, and I've got quite a few F1 games in my overall collection. I'll see if i can get it for a few quid though.

found this today in a charity shop, it really pays to be nice and get to know the people in them as they now hold games in the back till i come on in, so as soon as i walked in she pulled it out for me:

99p! Bargain.
i also bought every grand theft auto game on ps2 (bar vice city stories) too as they were all in brand new conditions with maps etc - good day so far

wii u , super mario 3D world and wind waker hd. Im lovin' it

Re: What games/consoles have you bought this week??

Neither was anything that I was particularly after, but I effectively got them both for just under nineteen quid as I made a profit on each of the games I punted into GAME. They're not games that I've seen often or seen selling for cheap, so I took the opportunity to snap them up at a decent price while I can.

To retrogamerdude : Some great games in those 4, but the cartridges on the SMS are so dull!
Also, how did Sega get away with calling it Super Tennis (or Nintendo doing it for their game)??
