I'm only 'aving a laugh really - the Speccy & the Amstrad both have their merits.

Amstrad.

Everyone had 'their' machine in the 80s and you wouldn't normally think twice about buying the competitor machine as well - there wasn't much point when games were 99% of the time released on all 3 formats. More people had Speccy's and C64s yes, but they came slightly before Amstrad. We all have our rose tinted spectacles blah blah ...

I had a ZX and a CPC, but the choice of having a couple of colours or 16 colours, plus with the inbuilt tape deck was far more reliable for loading games (that is before Amstrad themselves bought out Sinclair and re-made them) put simply the CPC won out every time and the Speccy put in the cupboard.

Dont get me wrong - I loved the Speccy, but I love the Amstrad more :)

Sorry, but this has been done. Despite the controversy, the 8-bit poll showed that the majority considered the Spectrum better so why are we going through all of this again?

Before 1000 C64 forums made their users register here, vote and never post again.

I'm sure more Spectrum people did that. At the beginning there were loads of new Spectrum voters (handy for the cut off point which the mag used). One even admitted to doing it over 20 times.
